  1. Shipping is gonna be a biiiitch.

And not to be an asshole, but IS it gonna be the same quality as MTS's? Seems like theirs has a bit more than Geffen usually puts into releases.

how so? weren't the enema and dude ranch presses pretty much exactly the same? i mean i know the s/t jackets were done really well and came with the booklet but since this will be the first time its being pressed by someone different you'd have to wait and see what they do with it. and travis already said the HT press will have the etching on the d side. just playing devils advocate here

That's my point though, the S/T was done a little more over-the-top than the others (jacket/booklet-wise), and it's a bit more than what I'd expect from Geffen for a Hot Topic release.

I don't really care, I already have the album. Just curious.

  2. omgz i totally hope this is the rarest variant, i'll get so many bragging pointz to all my friends! then when i get tired of the album i can sell it on ebayz for big buckz!! collectorz fo lyfe! i love the letter z!

So you're making fun of people who want rare variants of popular records? Sweet

Yes, technically I am. I don't dislike you as a person, but I think it is very, very silly.

I liken it to my early elementary school days, when all I could think about was getting a holographic Ditto. Not sure why, but oh, how I longed for that holographic Ditto. I mean, he can change into anybody! ANYBODY!

But you know what I got? A goddamn non-holographic Ditto. NON-HOLOGRAPHIC. WHAT KINDA BULLSHIT IS THAT?!

Point is, it was the same exact same card, but not as rare. As a kid, I came to hate that card. It represented everything evil in the world. As an adult, I can now appreciate it for what it really is...

Wait... actually, I'm not even sure where it is... maybe that wasn't the best analogy...

  3. "corporate behemoths"

Do the RSD people realize where 90% of the RSD releases are coming from?

    True dat.

Record Store Day has turned into an opportunity for major labels to cash in by selling overpriced re-releases to people who will buy anything with the RSD logo on it. So honestly, SRC may as well participate, RSD is only an empty shell of what it used to be and doesn't really hold any of the same values anymore. I mean, who in their right mind would pay $30-$40 (estimate) for 3 7" singles from Pink Floyd's The Wall, when you can get the entire album (and listen to them in the proper context) for $5 in a used record store?

  4. I look at it in a way where I really do think some of the younger collectors are ruining this hobby. If its all about the music, and just the music, then you have other formats to obtain it on.

    ...Really?

This is what I think is ruining this "hobby"; referring to it as a fucking hobby.

Truth is, it IS music; what else is it supposed to be about? If it's about collecting shit to you, then buy a pack of fucking baseball cards. I buy records to have the music on my preferred format, and I don't really give a shit if it's OG, repress, or whatever the fuck else there is for people to bitch about.

  5. i ordered the RX Bandits lp with my 2 starting line records....I enjoyed all 3 releases when I was younger....I guess the RX Bandits record acted as a nice stiffiner and I didn't have any issues with seam splits...but I've received several records with seam splits before...and I honestly don't know what all the fuss is about. I agree this guy seems a bit clueless as far as running his "label"...but I also feel like there's far too many people making quite a to-do over nothing here as well. I think it's poor planning on ETRs end to just now include poly sleeves with the orders as well though. Essentially all the orders that shipped early just don't get poly sleeves?? I realize that Poly Sleeves are rather cheap, and just as minor an offense as seam splits and shipping 10" records in 12" mailers, but I don't own nearly as many 10" records as 12" records...so I've yet to purchase a package of just 10" poly sleeves...just seems poorly planned and poorly executed. Only the 2-packs getting the Liner Notes is a bit strange as well...I can understand the two-pack getting this superfluous "Obi Strip" to pack 'em together, but not dropping Liner Notes in the other albums is just strange. Hopefully ETR learns from this experience and everybody's gripes and puts together a legit release next time around. I realize you can't please all the people all the time, but it appears that there are only about 100 of his customers that aren't complaining....yet.

I did the same and my sleeves are fine. And you're right about no poly sleeves or liner notes; after almost $15 for just a 10", it's kinda lame to get a bare-bones package. and kind of a petty complaint, but my "white w/ gold haze" looks more like a "vomit splatter on white." oh well.

  6. Just wondering if anyone else has gone to this, because if you haven't, DO IT.

Saw it in Pittsburgh last weekend (the new hockey arena too), and it's less of a concert and more of a musical (but not the gay kind). Complete with fireworks, crashing planes, time travel, more floating pigs, and... a Wall. Rog has still got it too, he was all OVER that place (he did get a nice little break to watch TV, though).

    Anyone seen it?
