Arcade Dynamics is a great album. Their finest, IMO but not as impressed with more recent stuff. That said, apparently Zach Hill is doing something upcoming with Ducktails... Totally stoked to hear that!

Does anyone know why every record I seem to get from anywhere in the UK is always just in an envelope? It's seriously scary importing from over there...
Pretty sure it's a weight/shipping cost thing. I believe Canada Post and Royal Mail (Europe) have similar pricing schemes.
For example, if I ship a single LP to Europe with 2 pads of 1/2" bubble wrap (which weighs almost nothing) and put no cardboard in, for most average weight LPs the shipping is about $19.
Add a piece of cardboard or if its a heavyweight record and the weight goes over 500 grams and you're talking double shipping cost - $36.
I'd never ship in just a bubble mailer and it scares me to open records that are shipped to me that way.

VINYL FORMAT. The story that leads to Junip's 2010 release is one of patience and perfectionism, frustration and persistence, sheer bloody-mindedness, inspiration and success. The place to which it takes you, however, is one of pastoral contemplation, autumnal grace and inscrutable, haunting serenity. A cosmopolitan three piece from Gothenburg, Sweden - featuring Tobias Winterkorn (keyboards), Elias Araya (drums) and José González (vocals and guitar), the latter of whom you'll be familiar with from his solo work - Junip have existed since 1999, maybe even 1998. It's so long, frankly, that none of them are quite sure. Fields, however, is the album that they've been itching to make ever since. González and Araya have been playing together since they were fourteen. Their love of hardcore led them to form Renascence, (later called Sweet Little Sinister), and they first encountered Winterkorn at shows in Gothenburg in the mid '90s . . . [Fields is] a hazy, organic, melodic and hypnotic musical environment that leans on an unconventional blend of influences, from John Martyn's folk-jazz to Richie Havens' psychedelic soul via the more motorik elements of so-called 'krautrock' . . . González is able to reel off a whole list of albums that have made an impact on his life during the time Junip was waiting to happen but that eventually informed the music on this album: from Shuggie Otis' Inspiration Information, C.K.Mann's Funky Hi-Life, David Axelrod's House of Mirrors and Nina Simone's See-Line Woman all the way to Linda Perhacs' Sandy Toes. Produced by the band and mixed by Don Alsterberg, who also helped with recording, Fields proves that every second of its protracted gestation has been worth the wait. From the galloping simplicity of "Off Point" to the gentle summer breeze of "Always," from the light-as-a-feather deftness of "It's Alright" to the blissful melancholy of "Tide," it's a heady and seductive brew, defined by the warmth of Winterkorn's keyboards, Araya's subtly insistent rhythms and González's distinctive, softly-sung tones and enigmatic lyricism. Its modesty belies its attention to detail as well as its defiantly not-of-this-time and not-of-this-world atmosphere.

To coincide with the release of Reconstructed, DJ Shadow will release a special deluxe edition. The Deluxe Special Edition consists of;
• A 6mm thick and infill printed acrylic slipcase
• A case bound cover wrapped in a glow in the dark and matt laminated wrapper
• A 12 page Black wire bound book covered in a laminated and embossed cover
• One piece of 180gsm 12" vinyl, seven CD discs and one DVD disc
• An individually numbered certificate signed by DJ Shadow
Product Specifications:
This edition comes housed in a 6mm thick Black acrylic slipcase. The slipcase has been engraved and infilled with glow in the dark pigment.
The edition will house a 12 page Black wire bound book with a laminated and embossed cover. The book is presented in a foil blocked pocket bound into the inside front cover. The book is printed full colour throughout on 170gsm coated paper. The text pages are saddle stitched with Black wire.
Four CD discs are presented in pockets to the inside front cover. Three CD discs and one DVD disc are presented to the inside back cover. The vinyl record is presented in a pocket bound into the inside back cover.

Agree about paper sleeves being too rough and I especially dislike the die-cut center on paper sleeves... more edges to scratch the wax. Would like to upgrade to plastic inner sleeves one day, especially for prized records.
