As you know most stores have a standard markup and then add a bit to cover shipping costs. But something to consider is that it's not easy for stores to get RSD titles, as some of them don't show up at distributors until mere days before RSD. So the stores end up having to pay more for shipping because they have to get the records quicker. The store i used to work for here in Vancouver ran into this trouble and i know that other stores here in Canada have this problem. It's the reason why alot of the 7"s cost $8-10.

I'm cool with a $10 7". But $30 for the arctic monkeys 7"... That's just wrong for a store to do. The store that had all the mastodon 7"s by me was charging $10 each, I told them that a bunch of people on here were looking for them. The next day I went to pick up some records I had them hold and the price was all of a sudden $21. That's kinda messed up too. That's an LP price.

It wasn't Bionic Records was it? I just ask because they said that they would maybe sell me one of the Mastodon 7"s through the mail if they got the time.

I love Ringworm and they are from my hometown. I saw them open for Incantation and Mushroomhead in about 2001 or so and they absolutely killed.

Anyone have a recommendation for a portable usb turntable? Besides sounding good and being reliable, I would like it to have decent software, an ipod jack, built in speakers, and an rca jack for external speakers. A price range of about $200 give or take.

Misfits have a really well established collecting community and most of their older or limited vinyl releases command pretty good money. Unfortunately most people probably grabbed these up to re sell.

Hoping this is still available when i get paid next week. I had the last one in hand on RSD but gave it to my dad to buy since Devo is his favorite band, he even sings in a Devo punk cover band called Smart Patrol.

I've seen Smart Patrol! They are really good!

As far as getting into Devo, the first 4 albums are the best. My personal favorite is New Traditionalists. Also try Devo Hardcore Vol. 1 and 2 if you are into their weirder less poppy stuff.

It kind of sucks that they mark up the prices but take a glance at the disclaimer in the about section of recordstoreday.com it pretty much says stores have complete control of their stock.

There was one store listed on their site as participating in my area that I don't believe has an actual physical storefront anymore but they do still sell stuff online. I am gonna go check out the 2 addresses I found for them and see if they actually have a store anymore. I've been calling the phone numbers they have listed for the last few days and get nothing but a busy signal.

The discount bin in Hot Topic stores can be decent especially when they are running their 50% off clearance item sales. Some LPs I've gotten I've gotten there in the past for under $5 include Ramones- S/T, Rocket to Russia, Ohgr- Devils in my Details, Mastodon-Oblivion Picture disc, TSOL- Pursuit... Picture Disc signed exclusive.

I had a great experience with 20buckspin.com I ordered the latest pressing of Kylesa's Static Tension and I really wanted a Kylesa patch that they were giving away as a bonus for the earlier pressing. I asked them if they happened to have an extra around. They couldn't find one but when I ordered LP when it arrived their was the patch. Really meant a lot to me that they took the time to look for it for me and included it free of charge.

I went a few different places, mainly looking for the Misfits Walk Among Us. I found 1 copy, which was marked up to $25. I saw another in the display case and asked the guy if I could buy it and he said "1 per person" (which is fair) and I asked if he could hold it for my friend who was on the way and some lady butted in and said she would buy it right then and there (after telling her bf she didn't want it a minute before).

Other then that success in all the things I was looking for except the Flaming Lips/Mastodon split which I still really want. I wouldn't have minded finding some of the Third Man Records releases either but I got a late start and am overall satisfied. This was my first time participating and will be better organized next year.
