gramophonic
I'm going to be in Philly this weekend and was just wondering if anyone knew of any good record stores in the area.
dntheman1
I'm going to Philly this weekend too! Although technically I'm only going to be there for about 10 minutes before catching a ride to the suburbs, where to my knowledge the only record store is the Hot Topic at King of Prussia. Woo. hickey
This has been asked before. I haven't lived in Philly for years, but I used to go to Relapse, Repo, the Philly Record Exchange and Spaceboy. Some may be closed, some may still be open.
swankymodes
There's quite a few decent stores in philly. On South street you can find Repo records (decent selection of new records) Noise Pollution (good variety of stuff mostly new) Relapse Retail Store (all the death metal vinyl you could want) Philly Record Exchange (more used vinyl they you could ever want to look through) Beautiful World Syndicate has two stores, one in South Philly and another on the West side. (great selection of used stuff and some okay new stuff too) A.K.A. music in Old City (pricey, but a good selection of new vinyl, some used) The Marvelous Records & Comics (on the West side, decent stuff) I'm sure there are more, but those are the ones that come to mind right away. Noise Pollution? Is that a little store on a street off of South? Just punk/hardcore records? If so, I used to love that place.

Right next door to another record store that pretty much deals in hip hop stuff. There also used to be 611 record a few doors down (closed down). The Relapse store is across the street too. Yep. I've found some serious gems at AKA, so I'm biased.
Guest genericinsight
I've never been in Noise Pollution, I'll have to check it out when I'm in Philly next week. I'll be right on South Street.
hickey
If it's the store I'm thinking of, it used to be fantastic (I haven't lived in Philly for six years though).
swankymodes
Noise Pollution is okay. They don't get much rotation in their vinyl, so there's not much point in going there but once every three months. Beautiful World Syndicate is my favorite. They are always getting more stock in. Good prices. They also set up tables at the church basement during some shows. LowEndAutomatic
Long in the Tooth, located at around 20th and Sansom Sts. (Center City) is definitely worth checking out! Thay have a large selection of new and used LPs at really reasonable prices... You always find great stuff! Also, the folks who run the store are really great people. jeffdantzer
If you're in the suburbs up by Doylestown, their is Siren Records, which has a pretty decent selection.
Guest genericinsight
I hope to do some shopping since I'll be in Philly a good chunk of the day on Friday. One day, I hope to hit up Siren Records as I hear so much about it, but I never end up that way.
