Just got this email, thought some of you might dig it.

JUNE UPDATE

TOTAL ABUSE – Are currently touring the US. Their debut LP and CD (which will include bonus tracks from their SEX PIG 7” on DERANGED and demo) is in the works and will be out this summer. The intention was to have copies of the LP available for this tour and both DERANGED and the band went out of our way to make that happen but due to press plant errors, it’s not looking like that will be happening. The album is a punk hardcore classic. Tour information and mp3s available at http://www.myspace.com/totalabuse

YOUNG OFFENDERS – The new single is coming very close to completion. Just waiting on parts to arrive at which point ordering information will be posted. Should be another 3 weeks. In the meantime, check out some of their new songs at http://www.myspace.com/youngoffendersmusic

SUSPECT PARTS – New 7” out now! Featuring Justin Maurer from the CLOROX GIRLS / RED DONS and Chris Bell from the BRIEFS. While spending time in Europe, both came together and wrote two originals and a cover of ‘To Stone’ from THE TWO CHEQUES (1963, Louisiana). ‘Seventeen Television’ is the standout track and brings to mind a more anthemic punk version of the CLOROX GIRLS with Justin on both vocals and guitar duties. In late May, both Justin and Chris were in Portland and with the help of some of folks from the SODA POP KIDS, SUSPECT PARTS played a handful of shows on the Westcoast. Limited editions available now from DERANGED RECORDS (under license from 17 TV). Check out ‘Seventeen Television’ at http://www.myspace.com/suspectparts

THE IMPULSE INT’L – Some good reviews are starting to show up. A second single is in the works.

MRR 301 Snappy, poppy, and as jumpy as a '77 punk on a pogo stick. Sharp bursts of the JAM mix in with that super rare power pop sound from the late 70's that all the kids seem to be rubbing balls to nowadays. The tunes will stick - you'll be singing these ones all the way to the dole office and back. If you've been digging the TRANZMITORS GENTELMEAN JESSE, STATUES and all the other new breed of punked up mods then you'll absolutely love this. Another winner from the label you all love to hate... get over it.

Jersey Beat review:

Hitting with the same kinetic hyperactivity of Peter and the Test-Tube Babies’ classic “Banned from the Pubs”, “Arm the Girls” is a track designed for those who loved punk’s earliest, most pure elements. I loved the energy and enthusiasm here, and any song that ahs the lyrics, “We had alcohol, I spent the night in her room” is fine by me! The B-side is similar in nature to its counterpart, with a pure 60’s rock sound that would make the members of the Dave Clark Five smile. The pounding, rhythmic force of “Run and Hide” was a shot of pure sugar. The chorus, partly due to its simplicity and partly due to its hook, will not leave your brain for days. Go get this!

FUCKED UP – Both POLICE and DANCE OF DEATH 7”s were recently repressed. Information regarding their new album should be forthcoming shortly. They are touring part of Europe this July, http://lookingforgold.blogspot.com/

BRUTAL KNIGHTS – review from razorcake

A super quick one from this knucklehead bunch of punk misfits from Toronto. Ten songs of short and sweet trashiness fly by in twelve minutes. This time around, the production is more raw and sounds self-recorded. It adds an element of Nervous Breakdown Black Flag meets the Nihilistics. A good thing in my book. They come across more like their live show. I have actually seen them a couple of times and they are especially great on their home turf. I know when I think of bands from Toronto, I think of this band in the same breath as Fucked Up and Career Suicide. I have heard that there is a European tour version of this 12” as a picture disc 7” with fewer songs. If anyone wants to donate one to me, I would be forever grateful.

ONLINE STORE – new MARVELOUS DARLINGS and ESTRANGED 7”s recently added. RED DONS death to idealism LP REMASTERED, various editions of the SUSPECT PARTS 7”

STATUES - Are back from a fantastic tour of Europe and their new ‘ TERMINAL BEDROOM ‘ CD is now out. It compiles the three new 7” (one of DERANGED, one of FDH/PTrash and one on Plastic Idol) and bonus material. It came out great and now the boys from Sudbury are starting to focus on their next album. In the meantime, you can find some STATUES related articles below and an interview in the new RAZORCAKE.

Two reviews from the new RAZORCAKE

This band’s last record, 2006’s New People Make Us Nervous, left me completely speechless. I hadn’t heard a knack for combining near-perfect pop songs and goose bump-inducing lyrics since hearing “The Science of Myth” for the first time. It was upsettingly good. The Same Bodies, Same Faces 7” continues in the same vein, just oozing catchiness and sincerity. Folks are quick to make Buzzcocks comparisons or plaster on the power pop label whenever a pop punk band doesn’t reek of Ramones influence, but I really think that Statues rises above the completely obvious. With a once-over, one can find elements of all of the above stuff in Statues’ sound, but there’s just something indescribable going on here; something that gives me the shivers. I’m hard-pressed to think of a current band that I like more. Incredible.

I’m sure these guys are sick of the Tranzmitors comparison because they’re Canadian, pour their hearts out into power pop, have releases on the same label, and, basically, kick a ton of ass, but we go with what we’ve got. Lyrically, this comes across like the movie Brazil and the black sheep bolting in the opposite direction of the flock on the cover of Minor Threat’s Out of Step. Work suuuuucks people into fluorescent-tinged, lock-step, grey-raced bean pushers. Music’s a beautiful fuckin’ rainbow in the darkness. And if a band holds up Elvis Costello in a chalice to make your butt shake, more the better. They make the GG Allin cover sound like it was originally released by The Jam. I’m a goddamn sucker for this stuff.

RED DONS – Their Death to Idealism LP has been remixed and remastered and now sounds louder, cleaner and all around way better than the original pressing. A small repressed is now available though the majority will be sold on tour with the band this June. A very small number of copies are available for sale via the online store for those interested. I highly reccomend both The Statues and Suspect Parts. In fact, I'm ordering the Suspect Parts 7" as we speak. They also have the new Marvelous Darlings 7" in stock.

Also, the third Marvelous Darlings 7" is for sale here:
