Guest Admin
HUMAN HIGHWAY "Moody Motorcycle" LP root beer brown vinyl BLACK MOTH SUPER RAINBOW "Zodiac Girls" 7" red vinyl HEALTH "Perfect Skin/Curses Remix" 7" blue vinyl THE COATHANGERS "Shake Shake/Dreamboat" 7" white vinyl SCHOOL OF SEVEN BELLS "Silent Grips" 7" green vinyl There is no doubt about the fact that Suicide Squeeze have released so many incredible records. From Minus the Bear to Elliott Smith to Russian Circles, they have one of the more diverse rosters, but the common denominator is the quality of everything they put out. Although not quite as well known as the previously mentioned bands, I want to introduce you to some of Suicide Squeeze's latest releases. Human Highway is a new project featuring a member of Islands Nick Thorburn and singer/songwriter Jim Guthrie. Let me just say that I can't stop listening to this album. According to my resurrected last.fm account (http://www.last.fm/user/virgildickerson), I have chalked up more plays of this album than any other album I am currently listening to. The album has a really cool, laid back vibe to it and it reminds me a lot of the first Islands' album which I also love. Ranging from 60's folk pop to almost quirky indie rock, the album has wide appeal. Check out the band's myspace (http://www.myspace.com/humanhighway) and listen to 2 songs from the album. Also, note the fact that our friends at Suicide Squeeze have donated 1 test pressing to someone who orders this record from us. Good luck. Also note that Suicide Squeeze have been releasing a new batch of 7"s featuring Black Moth Super Rainbow, Health, The Coathangers, and School of Seven Bells. You may not be familiar with all of these bands, but it wasn't long ago that SS released some really great singles by (at the time) lesser known bands Russian Circles, Unicorns, Of Montreal, and Black Mountain. lydiawesome
http://www.myspace.com/humanhighway (You put in a "y" on accident and the link didn't work for me.) I loved the Unicorns, so since I'm a fan of Nick's other stuff I'll give this project a chance. Speaking of, I wish I had Unicorns vinyl. Stoked on the Health stuff too, I think they're a local band. Edit: I love everything Nick Thorburn is involved with.
