digitalgiraffe
So I am ready to buy a new setup as my 1977 Pioneer amp/turntable are pretty much dead. I've decided on the Pro-Ject Debut III turntable with built in phono pre-amp as its nice and affordable. I went into my local audio specialist store today and the guy recommended the NAD C355BEE amp and it appears to get great reviews ( http://www.whathifi.com/Review/NAD-C355BEE/ ) but I was wondering if anyone here has one or has had much experience with them. Thanks for your help. Paul
mattstrike
For the money, it's a solid amp. You may want to check out the Cambridge Audio amps in that range though. For imported Brit-designed solid states, I like their neutrality (sound) better. Definitely a different sound than an NAD. PS - What's the list on that NAD in Australia? I see these all the time on Audiogon...
jhog3411
I agree with the post above. I have the C325BEE and I like it a lot and it's a great bang for the buck. I compared them at the audio store and I would say the CA has more detail on the high end while the NAD had a warmer sound with a more robust low end. CA was also more expensive. I did check out a CA amp it was the 640AV2 but the guy in the store seemed to think that the NAD would drive my speakers better (some old Antec Lansing Super Delux 604E's - They're huge!). celebdeath
NAD are a great unit. My mate has a NAD setup with a turntable as well (pretty much exactly the same type of turntable to Goldring GR1.2) and the system sounds huge. Think its a wise choice. when i can afford to upgrade, i'll certainly be considering NAD.
