My inbox delivered some really fantastic news today. The Washington Posts' online edition, Express Night Out, did a fantastic preview of the Suburban Home Tour's stop in Washington, DC at DC9 which will happen tonight. Chris Porter, Express Night Out's music editor spent some time chatting with Austin Lucas and Two Cow Garage as well as saying nice things of Suburban Home and the artists on this tour. I highly recommend reading the feature here http://www.expressnightout.com/content/2009/08/suburban_home.php

Not only did Chris do a nice piece on the Suburban Home tour, but he also got both Austin Lucas and Two Cow Garage to do a track by track commentary on their most recent albums, "Somebody Loves You" and "Speaking in Cursive".

Here's what Austin had to say about the title track, "Somebody Loves You":

I was living in Portland for a brief period, and I was pacing the basement I was living in, and I came up with the line "Whatever good you've done is dwarfed by mountains made of wrong." I built the whole song around that. Really, the song has a lot to do with how people can be many different things. They can be both evil and good at the same time, and it's about how other people can perceive that person at any given moment. It's about experiences I had with someone I knew, and how I idolized this person, and then realized this person was not someone to be idolized at all. But in the end, this person has people in their life that loves them, and even though I've learned better, it doesn't mean there are other people who don't have reasons to love that person and that person is good at times. But that person in my life isn't a positive force, so I can't have anything to do with this person.

I love these song by song explanations and encourage you to read the rest of what Austin had to say as well as check out some videos and stream the album; you can do all that here http://www.expressnightout.com/content/2009/08/austin_lucas.php

Here's what Two Cow Garage had to say about "Your Humble Narrator":

MICAH: That's about an earlier time in my life. We're on the road so much, and then you get home and you never really shut that down. You're young enough that you pretty much keep living that lifestyle while at home; keeping the train rolling until the next time you leave. You're up till 6 every morning with your friends. ... After a few years, looking back on it, it's like, wow — that was a pretty wild time in my life. It's looking back at the maturing process; learning how to get it together a little bit. ... How do you just shut down? You can't live at home like you do out here [on the road] all the time. I think throughout the record, we're trying to deal with that and ask that question.

Thanks Chris for all the support and for allowing 2 of our artists to do Track by Track Commentaries on their most recent albums. You rule! Everyone, please check these out. And click the banner to get the tour dates for the Suburban Home Tour.
