flicker
so i want to get a new camera. the main feature i want, is full 1080p HD video. im looking at the Canon 7d (DSLR) or like a Sony HDR fx7 (camcorder) right now, i am leaing toward the 7D as being able to take awesome stills would be cool. anyone use either? any other recommendations? http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002NEGTU6/ref=s9_simp_gw_s0_p23_t1?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=center-2&pf_rd_r=0HBSCP10QPRJDFEA6JDP&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=470938631&pf_rd_i=507846 http://www.amazon.com/Sony-HDR-FX7-High-Definition-Handycam-Camcorder/dp/B000IBDWNS/ref=sr_1_9?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1261809109&sr=8-
punkrudeboy
From my understanding the video feature on the Canon SLR's doesn't work with the auto focus, so depending on the aperture if the subject moves it will fall out of focus. If you want a camcorder more I'd go with an actual dedicated video camera.
kieran
Depends what you want to film most 'serious' film is done using manual focus anyway. There are some sample videos sing the 5D (video functions are the same I believe): http://www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?act=GetProductArticlesAct&productID=249&articleTypeID=225 Also they have just shot a whole independent feature film on a 5DmII: http://www.love-loss.com/ I reckon once the flaws are ironed out (for example not being able to connect an external monitor making the job of the focus puller a pain) that there will be a rise in SLR use in media production. flicker
yup. i will very rarely be using the auto focus. in fact, manual focus is one of the main features im looking for.
