Guest afsdan
preface: I am a computer dolt. bear with me OK, I'm setting up z-c as my storefront. I'm doing pretty well for knowing absolutely nothing about computers. Problem is, I get to the "database setup" page, and they ask for my database host, username, and password. I assume this is the info I use to log on to my friend's server, which I am sharing space, and where my website is hosted. They also ask for "database name", which is where I assume I'm hitting a wall. I don't know what I'm supposed to use...I've put in a number of options that all return with a "connection to database failed" message. I've searched the web for answers, and e-mailed my buddy, to which I recieved a drunken reply about how "don't u know goddamn thing about database" and how he lost his job yesterday. any advice? I would e-mail the web host, but I don't know who that is. I'm also hoping to get some answers before I split for work. Thanks VC. You've been good to me in the past with comp. questions...let's keep that going!
Guest
Your FTP login and database credentials are completely different beasts. You need to contact your web host to get access to a database.
Guest afsdan
I thought that might be the issue. Unfortunately I don't know who is my web-host...I just had the aforementioned drunken friend buy my domain cuz he was supposed to be my web-designer (which he is not). I'll shoot him another email, hopefully he's sobered up. Thanks dude. You come through in the clutch again!
