Bryne
The Mountain Goats have made a new song titled "Cry For Judas" available for free download. It's from their new album Transcendental Youth, due out Oct. 2 via Merge. Leader John Darnielle had this to say about the track, via press release: "Like a lot of the new album, this song is about saddling up your demons and learning to ride them like devil horses with big leathery wings. To the best of my knowledge, it's also the first song ever to feature both a swinging horn section and a line about a baphomet drawn in chalk on an altar cloth, so everybody else who was trying to square that circle can take a breather now." The first 1,000 pre-orders of the album will include a limited edition 7-inch with two non-album tracks: "Steal Smoked Fish" and "In the Shadow of the Western Hills." Grab it here.
