SINGLES CLUB CASSETTE SERIES BATCH #3 OUT NOW

Another month is here and like clockwork we have two brand new entries in Singles Club Cassette Series available for order. This month we have releases from MIKE NAIDEAU and KENT STATE. Next month will have entries from KATRINA STONEHART and SHIVERING WINDOW, and the following month we will see entries from STARS ARE INSANE plus one more to be announced. -MIKE NAIDEAU "Singles Club #6"

A few years ago I started developing a relationship with the Long Island label Life On An Island, a label who I admire a great deal. In some ways I feel our two labels a very alike- we take pride in documenting the music that our friends are creating here on Long Island but also representing a very diverse range of sounds. Most of my dealings with Life On the Island were through Mike Naideau, who also plays in the wonderful band Giant Peach whom you should all be aware of. My first introduction to Naideau's music was however the home recorded music he did under the name of Blood Soda and then later his own name. Naideau has a knack for mixing fuzzy guitar tones, intelligent lyrics, and field recordings to create a brand of psychedelic bedroom pop. In some ways you can certainly see what Naideau does bring creatively to the table in Giant Peach but here you get to witness it do its own thing. In Naideau's entry in the Rok Lok Singles Club he contributes two tracks of fuzzy bedroom art rock/pop that reminds of Polvo as well Libraness- the solo project of Ash Bowie of Polvo. Limited to numbered 50 cassettes with hand stamped labels and black & white, numbered j cards.

-KENT STATE "Singles Club #7: Behind Closed Doors"

About a year ago a good friend of mine turned me onto a band on Last FM thinking I would dig them and suggested that it may be a good idea that this band eventually put something out on Rok Lok. That band is none other than Kent State! What originally started out as basic introductions and discussing a mutual love of Guided By Voices, Sebadoh and the assorted like led to this moment. At some point I let it be known that when the opportunity presented itself that I would love to release something for Kent State, and when the Rok Lok Singles Club Cassette Series the timing was perfect. Kent State has given me the pleasure of adding four of their fantastic songs to the Rok Lok discography. "Behind Closed Doors" is a four song ep of romping, non stop lo fi indie rock/punk rock tunes. These tunes are raw yet very catchy and covered in layers of reverb like a mix between Guided By Voices, Television Personalities and Husker Du. Member of DEEP SLEEP! Limited to 50 cassettes with hand stamped labels and full color, numbered j cards.

BRICK MOWER "MY HATEABLE FACE" TOUR

Also on the road again is BRICK MOWER is embarking on a 3 week tour to support their brand new full length album, "My Hateable Face" which is on Don Giovanni Records, which will be turning up in the distro soon. In the distro right now there are copies available of "Under the Sink" cd/12 inch, "Floors EP" cd and of course "Why Are We Doing This?" 7 inch which was released on Rok Lok earlier this year.
