dethrock
This will probably end up being longer than I want it to be so sorry in advance. I'm planning on buying a house in the next 3 months and I'm looking at buying a second vinyl setup. I went to the local (and only) Hi-Fi store to price things out and see how much I'd be looking at spending. For turntables in my budget (I said around $700-1000) there's only one option and it's the new Pro-Ject Xpression Carbon. I went to look at the Xpression III I think it was ($700) but he doesn't have/can't get them anymore. The Carbon is $850 and comes with a 2M red that I would want to upgrade to at least a blue. I can't find much info on this table. Another option he showed me jumps up to $1400 I think it was and it was a Pro-ject 2 Xperience with a Ortofon 2M bronze. This is out of my price range though I think. I want to support him because he's local and been good to me in the past but searching around I just found this (http://www.canuckaudiomart.com/details/649094638-rega_rp3elys2_new/) a Rega RP3 with a Elys2 for $995 plus tax. The thing is I know absolutely 0 about setting up a turntable. Just trying to figure out my best move here. Also with this setup I have Epos Epic 2's and will probably go with a Rotel RA-12 integrated amp.
jdtg
From what I've seen and read, the RP3 seems to be the best overall (new) table that can be purchased in the sub-$1000 range. If I had the money to spend I have no question that I'd be going with the RP3 above comparably priced Pro-jects, etc. Thread discussing this topic http://boards.vinylcollective.com/topic/94937-pro-ject-vs-rega-turntables/
dethrock
Thanks for the link. I've been doing some reading and the RP3 sounds pretty sweet. I was just hoping someone knew a bit more about these 2 Pro-ject tables.
