is it ever possible to find a band that doesnt' sound in some time like some other band? i mean if you dig hard enough i'm sure you'd find most bands' influences. rare is it you get a band that's completely unique and i would dare to say that just means they hide their influences well and/or combine enough so you don't notice.
what gets me is when bands straight-out cover other bands. you get that a lot when big mainstream movements come from more underground ones. hell, you probably get it when you get big mainstream movements period. the arena rock of the 70s is a good example. i can't tell kansas from styx from all the other fucking crap. you got the same in the 80s with the mass amount of bad pop metal bands. in the 90s it was watering down and copying the grunge sound out of seattle. now its all these bands trying to sound like copies of copies of copies of "hardcore" bands, which has been labeled emo by the masses - something i'll never figure.

Alkaline Trio - Hell Yes/Burn (tim armstrong remix) 7" on black
Alkaline Trio - Burn/Burn (zane lowe session) 7" on red

would you like some bitter with that bitter?
no bitter -- he's the one that's getting it.
No that's even better.

It is my opinion that if there is a 3rd pressing, it should be on 180 gram black vinyl. That is all.
I vote no 3rd pressing. Keep these limited babies limited.
- Jeff
All the color ones would be limited and then you'd have black for those people who weren't interested in short runs but would rather have the album in LP form. Not a bad idear in the least me thinks.

Does anyone else organize their CDs in their CD books? Talk about a pain in the ass. Luckily I don't buy CDs anymore, but whenever I get one randomly (See: MCS and White Stripes 3-pack preorders), I have to rearrange every one that's alphabetically past it.
- Jeff
Yeah, I did the alpha by artist then chrono album and boy did that suck just like you described. Well that and I bought enough CDs I filled a 320+ book and then some. Not good times.

i had white, but i'm shipping if off today to one lucky board member!
hot damn! i bet that board member is knockout! with a million friends and drives an H2 and wears pooka shell necklaces. oh and a tribal arm band
would you like some bitter with that bitter?

My thoughts exactly...

That's just how I roll, son.
I think you delayed sending them out just so you could post noodz.
Is that some kind of complaint?

Any idea on the count for the white, red, or black?
-
I'm not sure about the one in the bay area but I know in LA there's a wall dedicated to limited edition/hard to find vinyl releases. I've picked off quite a few nice releases from it
-
So 2 7" singles, a 12" single, and the full-length on 4 colors (one being a promo). Is that all?
-
there's a "district sleeps tonight" single as well, isn't there?
Oh, yeah, good call.

I've decided to start collecting Postal Service as I'm basically done with my PGMG and Hot Cross collections. I was wondering what exactly comprised their discography.
I know generally speaking there's the We Are Silhouettes 12" and Give-Up 2xLP on white, clear red, and black? What else is there?
Thanks

Appleseed Cast End of the Ring Wars Test (/4)
Planes Mistaken for Stars - S/T on white
test pressings from your own labels releases don't count!!!
I suppose its cheating...oh well
-
Jesus, those Brand New 7"s go for that much? I had no idea.
I read this wrong and thought you were talking about the Jesus picture disc 7"s from Brand New.
But yeah, those others, like all BN vinyl, seem to go for incredible amounts.
- Jeff
I would imagine it has a lot more to do with the amount of people "in" to them now. I would think if their popularity wains they'll vinyl prices will come down a least somewhat.

Sweet some hot amateur action AND my records!

Cursive - The Ugly Organ 180 gram LP
The Good Life - Help Wanted Nights 180 gram LP (white vinyl)

I'm not sure yet, it's on its way. What colors was it pressed on?
Gilead did a pressing and I believe Graveface did one too. The Graveface one has each disc as a different color and the Gilead pressing is just black.

nope at a store in denver. the price tag was white on the white jacket and the guy didnt see it. he was all about ICP and didnt give a shit what i was buying so he said "ill do this for 99 cents" and i cant argue with stupidity.
Gotta love ignorance. I felt pretty awesome about finding Pearl Jam's "Live On Two Legs" 2xLP used for $7.99 at Waterloo a few months ago.
My most recent purchases:
The Appleseed Cast - Low Level Owl, vol. 1&2
Breather Resist - Charmer
Cave In - Perfect Pitch Black (blue/black)
Did you get the tri-color version of the 'Cast record?
