Set up a post just for nominations. One nomination per person, and just the name to keep it simple. So all it would say in the post is:
Joe Schmoe
Then, total up all the nominations and have a vote / poll on the top three poeple.
I'd agree with this, it seems the best way to do it. A small variations would be to have said nomination thread, add it up to get the top 5 then run a poll thread to pick someone out of that 5.

Planes Mistaken for Stars - Spearheading the Sin Movement 7" (grey - second pressing)
-
This what he just sent me:
hi
no distributor can do that cause we are the exclusive manfuracturer and distributor of this record and NO ONE KNOWS ABOUT THIS except the folks who purchased from us and there was only 15 like this ....and its not sealed
all the record sold to distributors was mainly black
green swirl, grey.green all these colors where distributed differently around the world . example. grey green was for germany, green swirl for interpunk and australia
so someone who really wanted to do this would have to keep opening up lots of records just to try to find a match ....
we already thought about this before we did and he possibility of one getting lucky with it is quite rare
also none have a sticker saying what color it is ..just says limited color , some stickers are placed on the right side not on the left
ON PURPOSE because those went to another small distributor in UK ...so u see only we know really what is happening
thats why i been telling these folks on message boards
stop reading this crap ..we already told everyone what colors they are ..
we did this on purpose cause we did not want people thinking they know what colors so they could sell for 3 times the price
its quite vague and once we are all sold out which should be any week now we will say what colors there was in total
there is some more
cheers
pete
I call bullshit! I know Cobraside, who has no reason to lie, said there were about 100 variations sent to online stores. They didn't go in to detail. I dunno this all seems quite strange and a little over the top.

At this point I'm working on acquiring it to finish off my SDRE collection.

Did you pay him through PayPal? If so, doesn't paypal have some mechanism for reporting buy sellers?
-
I think you have to report the douche and get a refund. He sold you the stuff under false pretenses.

From what I can tell the SDRE/Shudder to Think tour 7" has different cover colors for the stamped writing. Anybody have any idea the variations?
-
I think, by definition, anyone who attempts to collect more than 5 records pressed by No Idea is masochistic. Cool but masochistic.
is it a problem that i have Var on speeddial?
Just a symptom of the addiction

Never been a big fan of Silverstein, but I definitely respect him more after that, good little read!

Just got the In the Red/Git some 7" splits I ordered in the mail, one red, one black. good times.

I wish I could have hair like that.

Cool...I'm hoping for some Alkaline Trio stuff

Check the spine of your Darkest Hour LP. I heard they may have been titled wrong.

I'm going out on a limb and saying red.
But he could be completely color blind and see only black and white or it could only be certain colors / shades. There are certain colors that I have trouble with so I was just curious.
His answer is going to have a follow up question on what it's like collecting vinyl and getting different pressings, colors, etc. depending on what his answer is. Until he brought it up, I never thought what it'd be like to be a color blind vinyl collector. And I don't mean that in a mean or condescending way, I just think it'd be interesting to hear from personal experience.

Oh I didn't mean it anyway but just being a general smart ass. Honestly most people who I know who are colorblind have issue with green and red so that was also part of my comment. Seems as though that's the case.
-
my chuck ragan "feast or famine" lp and cd showed up today! but my colourblindness renders me unsure as to whether it's on clear orange or clear red....
It's red. :-) What colors can you see / not see?
- Jeff
I'm going out on a limb and saying red.
-
you decide!
That would be clear red.

Planes Mistaken for Stars - Up in them Guts on red (first pressing, 1 of 507)
-
awesome, thanks for the info dudes.
does the pic disc come with a jacket or just in the plastic sleeves?
All my copies came with some kind of outside plastic sleeve. The pic disc came with the same gatefold jacket as the color LP did.
-
From Level Plane: 200 of each color (the question I asked included black so I assume 200 of that too) and 200 picture discs
-
Just get 'em all, its quite a nice setup.
-
The three colors currently listed are black, yellow, and orange. No amounts though. I have the picture disc so I know that was also out there.
