just listened to zero, i see what everyone means. basically no deadwax. even with my cart (which hardly ever produces inner groove distortion), it was pretty noisy throughout. oh well, already have the album on cd and cassette, and this set was only $20 shipped. looks gorgeous at least!
-
only ordered one lp - the 'masked and anonymous ost' for $10. been searching for a copy around $20 shipped for a few years now. said there was only one left in stock and it shipped today so i am stoked. thanks for the thread!

just contacted amazon and they refunded me the difference between the price i paid yesterday $26.48 and the price today of 21.49
such a damn good buy
same here, but they refunded me even more than the difference! shhhh
-
holy, down to $21.49!
-
thanks for the bump. just ordered this baby (and i'm in toronto, so under $30 shipped too )
rarely hear igd on my turntable (usually only with used albums that have previously been grooveworn), so i'm looking forward to hearing how zero sounds. and it's probably my favourite track on the album, so i've got my fingers crossed...
-
why do you have to sell this?
-
of course i'd buy it!
-
Yeah, I've been thinking about it, could you recomend one?...
if the record hasn't already been damaged/grooveworn, then i get absolutely zero inner groove distortion with an audio-technica at120e (or an at440mla, but why break the bank when you don't need to)
-
you probably need a cart that can track inner grooves better.
-
wiggs, hook these cats up. i'm out of town for the holidays, or i'd give you a hand
-
at hmv in toronto that record is available as part of the 2 for $25 deal
and they have tons
-
do all of them smell like cotton candy or were the scented copies a limited run?

yeah, i didn't want to be the one to suggest a new table, but bearchuck is right. you should definitely look into a whole new player.
-
only problem with the at95e is no matter how well it's aligned, there will always be some noticeable igd.
just bite the bullet and get an at440mla or the perfectly suitable at120e. for what you paid for the table it's worth investing in a $100-200 cartridge.
-
maybe the needle's worn out. most likely you're hearing inner groove distortion because that stylus isn't capable of tracking close to the spindle as well as, say, an at440mla.
you should probably just get new a cartridge. i recommend the at120e. it'll be a revelation, man.

I JUST found out that there is a Hot Topic in Toronto's Eaton Centre
I assumed they only existed south of the border, so I bought Uno and Dos on plain old black wax at Sunrise, just down the street from the EC...
Might just have to get 'em all twice, on black AND pink/blue/hopefully yellow
Also (kind of unrelated to Green Day vinyl), I was on Hot Topic's site earlier (which is how I discovered their existence in Canada) and there appears to be a "Buy One Get One 50% Off" sale, is this web-only?
eaton centre hot topic does not sell vinyl, unfortunately
Pitch Changing On Record
in Vinyl Collective Message Board

Most likely problem is that the record was pressed off-center, which would cause the needle to move back and forth, resulting in audible pitch warble (especially near the label). While better cartridges track inner grooves better and minimize issues like this, the record itself is likely the problem and if I were you I would absolutely return it. No questions asked. I've returned several records pressed off-center and have had no issues - Brian Wilson's Reimagines Gershwin, Oasis' The Masterplan, Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin's Jane Birkin/Serge Gainsbourg. My ears are very sensitive to pitch wavering and I cannot put up with it. Neither should you! Besides, Animals is not a hard record to find (and my copy sounds excellent), so just pick up another one some time.
