but im sure he is working a shop by now

  2. What about the personal attention? haahaa ok. I have been working at Amoeba for about 5 or so months now. you figure on a fri. or sat. we get about 1,000 people per hour coming in. If anyone asks for help they get it and as much as we can give out. There are over 260 employees at the store and all have knowledge in different areas. I help people all the time and i see other employess helping people non stop...even with the insane amount of people that are in there at a time.

as for not having anything you want. i can tell you i see resellers in there all the time. dudes that just buy shit and resell it on ebay. i know of two dudes that do that with all the indie records(punk,emo,hardcore,grindcore,etc)....so ya i get pissed too and i even work there. which means they are getting shit i even want. as employees we do not get first pick (for the most part). the owners are big on that and it is something they keep an eye on. I have gotten awesome records since i have been there but i have also just gotten lucky when things get put out. The back warehouse is insane. you have no idea at all. its almost as big as the main floor with more records than you can even imagine. its record nerd heaven. I'm pretty sure every record ever pressed have been through those doors at least once. thats how nuts it is.

I worked for a indie record store for a year and i worked for tower records for 7 1/2 years after that. I have never worked at a place that takes care of its customers and employees like Amoeba does.

they let people bring their dogs in the store and also give the dogs treats and water. personal attention....i think there is a lot of that going on at Amoeba.

    Just sayin'

  3. It's great to see label owners involved and interacting with us nerds. It makes the releases a little more special than getting it from some faceless label that doesn't care.

thats how i feel. i have spent a decent amount of money on the deathwish site. i have never ever had any problems with orders or anything. everyone i have delt with there has been very nice and helpful as well. like it has been said before, "more labels need to pay attention and take some notes."

i also believe the label is run the way it is because of the true hardcore diy background. the days before the internet. mailorder was the only way. these guys remember how it was before. you guys may complain about updates and taking time to get your pre orders but man... i remember how it was before and we are spoiled these days. anyway, DEATHWISH INC. is at the top of the game.

    awesome people,awesome releases,awesome webstore,just so awesome.

  4. I work at Amoeba so I can tell ya first hand that it is amazing. the back stock is fucking nuts. its pretty much the whole back of the building which is just as big, if not bigger than the store. A whole room of 7"s alone. Best place I have ever worked for. They treat their employees pretty well. For the most part everyone is cool there too.

    that is really cool..

    how is the associate discount?

its ok i guess= 10% off new stuff and 20% off used. with how much new stuff comes in used i usually get lucky that way. we really dont get to weed through the records first. well i dont but i usually check a good amount of times during the day on the sales floor. shit sometimes gets put out and is sold within minutes so i still gotta be fast. there are 260 employees so its sorta hard to get the super gold shit so easy.

  6. about 10,000 between 7"s 10"s and lp's

I had about 5000 cd's too but i sold almost all of them, down to about 300 now. If i bought all vinyl instead of half and half when i worked at a record store i would have over 15,000 records right now, and i would want to kill myself.

lp's a 5x5 expedit full, 2x4 expedit full and more stacks and piles.

    13 shelves, 5 boxes and a few stacks of 7"s and probably 100 10"s

I have over 100 ventures lp's and Beach Boys lp's probably close to 70, maybe more.

    lp's a 5x5 expedit full, 4x4 expedit full

i have these and full of lps/and about twenty 10"s plus i have eight 7" boxes and I'm at about 6,000 slabs of vinyl right now.

i have had to move them once and it sucked.
