this is a very hard choice.  it's more of a novelty item in my opinion and im not sure i want that.  then again, the songs are genuinely good.

I am pretty damn excited about receiving this. Average Negative is a new project/label that wants to combine music with art producing one final product that goes hand in hand.  The bandcamp offers a vinyl only limited 200 press and the shadow mountain special edition that is accompanied with a 64 page art book by artist Kyle Jorgensen to go along with the record.  handnumbered and limited to 100 - but fairly costly.  i think it's totally worth it though if you're into to music and art.

i understand the criticism but i'm finding the record to be quite enjoyable at the moment. 

really interesting release here.  you can hear tobacco and black moth super rainbow, but it's so much easier to listen to.  think of his past records, with a little influence from tycho or boards of canada.  there are even four previous songs from the label created in the style of the new album.

Ships from the UK and ends up being 41 US dollars, but there are a few limited edition white LPs still available and I've already heard there will be standard black selling in stores after the pre order. So if you want this, 41 may end up not being so bad.  

 

Personally, I'm too excited for this release to pass up on it.  Art work is beautiful, and if you're a fan of Burial or similar artists, you'll love this.  

the cover is a black X on black, so it's kind of hard to see.  discogs probably shows it best.  here are the three prints inside the record with the three band members (minus the female bassist that left the band shortly after the self titled.

I purchased copy 001 of the xx self titled "sculpture of an album" limited to 500 for a gross amount.  let's just leave it at that.  

I'm really starting the dislike invada. They have no communication with customers.

I've tried to ask them several times the release date for this with no luck.

 

i've been a bit frustrated with not knowing the release date as well but never tried to contact them.  did you see the picture with the splatter in the newsletter they sent out?  

subpop just made available a new download if you ordered the album.

the limited variant is still avilable at bleep.com.  ridiculously expensive thought - at 40 US dollars.  but i imagine it will be selling for more in a year.

It's hard to say what "limited edition" means, but the variant is fairly unique, the packaging looks well done, and the music is almost guaranteed to be very solid.

their facebook page said they were selling 1500 signed vinyl instead of 500 as originally planned.  just an FYI

I just got this and the first track is driving me nuts. Has this "woosh" sound that sounds like a vinyl defect throughout all of it, and then I listened on Spotify and it's on the track itself. Why would he make that stylistic choice?

anyone else see the tycho remix of spoon's inside out was available on an orange 12", but then it was cancelled due to production issues beyond their control?  very disappointing. 

 

I ordered through the Spoon store (kungfu), and received an email today that the EP has been cancelled due to "production issues beyond our control".

 

i just went through a major roller coaster of emotions.  i get really excited about this EP, as I love the Tycho remix so much, and then I try to click and it's gone, following with your message to confirm the worst case scenario.

Don'y get why its $35 from the Caracal site and $28 from their merch store.

 

oh man, they did change it.  nice!  i can stop worrying now.  i shouldn't let vinyl affect me like this.  

i ordered the signed LP.  35 shipped to US is not bad for a signed record.  

 

EDIT: if you go to the main website, it shows another page that gives you the option to pre order.  this other page talks about a "limited edition" colored variant and it's 35 plus shipping.  WTF?  not cool.  I just contacted them to ask about it.  

would be nice to see a neat variant, but i doubt there will be one.  but i'm more interested in hearing the music!
