The clear variant definitely sounds cool, but I too am curious what Hot Topic is going to offer. It would be nice to buy it on the way home from work and avoid shipping.

Yeah, I think some other people were saying media mail wasn't working for the TBS release, so I'm not too sure.
I just checked again, and I'm given the following shipping options:
USPS Priority Mail
UPS Ground
UPS 3 Day Select
UPS 2nd Day Air
I'm going to email them and see if this is due to a preorder, or just a site glitch. Thanks again.

What a great concept! Aside from Blockhead, nothing really catches my attention at the moment. Still something I will be mindful of. Another avenue for represses is always a good thing.

So many good questions, and thanks for answering as many as you can chaps!

Here's mine :
I take some expedit (5x5 +1x5+1x5), lack, and gladsax from Ikea :
Are all the different covers for The Velvet Underground & Nico different records, or do you have the door add-ons with the graphics? By the way, the set up looks great. This is something I may try and replicate. I love the shelf above the turntable to display what record is currently spinning. Great subtle touch.

I actually plan on doing this after I move. Most of them aren't labeled and if I guess I always get it wrong, which is super annoying when you have to manually adjust speeds on your TT.
If you keep your 7" records in poly sleeves, have you considered tagging the sleeves themselves? I read of someone labeling each record bag with artist, album, year, speed, etc. I thought it was a cool idea. You could take the cataloging even further, but something basic would help eliminate the guess work.

That twitter exchange with Red City Radio Chaps had lends hope to chance they may be on board for series 2.
Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to follow chaps on Twitter now.

Not yet, I'm waiting until I'm ready to make a big order. Since it's Hopeless my best guess would be black for retail though.
I sent Interpunk an email this morning about the color. I also assume it will be black, especially since Interpunk is good about labeling the pressing if it's available in a different color. I want the new Bayside record, too, so I'll probably wait until there is more I'm looking for as well. I don't like that MerchNow doesn't offer a media mail delivery option.

The Soft Moon - Feel - 7" (Black)
The Soft Moon - Feel - 7" (Silver /200)
The Soft Moon - Feel - Cassette (White Chrome /100)

Series 1 took a year and a half from idea to release date. But there was extra time to figure out the boxes, configuration and HOW to actually make the idea happen.
All of the artists included in the series were friends or friends of friends, etc. Most of them I wanted to include from the start a few were surprises that just worked out.
It's always great to hear the music community coming together for a great product like this. Have you had any artists show interest for future projects as a result of the series 1 popularity?

Went to the record show this morning. Spent $87 and happily walked out with the following.
Awesome record from The Cult!

So for one 7" and one cassette, it's $24 shipped. Some funky, 'Ferris Bueller's Day Off'-esque music, but I'll pass.
It was $34 shipped with two 7" singles and one cassette.
I like the Ferris Bueller reference. I didn't think of that.

I'm glad I stopped in here on a whim. This single is fantastic! I like the 80s post-punk vibe, definitely Joy Division-esque. Anyway, I ordered all three variants of the single--silver /200, black, white chrome cassette /100.
-
LP/7" bundle would be perfect.
As is I'll just wait until interpunk gets copies of the LP so I can save on shipping plus rack up those sweet, sweet interpunk rewards points.
Did you happen to order from Interpunk yet? I can't find any color info for the pressing on their site. I'm wondering if every other site will have a black pressing, or if the opaque red is the basic pressing.

Thanks buddy - They are great guys and I did a ton of research / listening to their show and learning about the current trading card market in making wax packs happen. Really hoping to make series 2 happen at some point!
You're welcome! How long did series 1 take to put into production? Did the artists volunteer, or were these particular choices you were hoping to include from the start?

Just picked this up myself. Record is blowing my face off.
I'm really looking forward to this. I've probably listened to this album more than any other in the past year. I'm still bummed I missed out on the initial yellow US pressing. That record looks awesome though!

Run The Jewels - Run The Jewels (Deluxe European Edition) - LP +12"

Really cool review of wax packs last night from the trading card side of things - starts at about 5 minutes.
That's a nice rundown and very complimentary, too. I thought they had some cool ideas for chases, like the custom 45 adapter. I've received one box already, most likely will order a second very soon. Awesome product!
-
so I've had my box for a little while, and one thing I've been confused about is on the box it says "One Collectable Digital Download Card Box Topper Per Hobby Box." Collect all Twenty. For the life of me I can not figure out where my download code it. I've looked on the cardboard insert, I've looked in the box. I've got 5 records, and I also got a Podacter Base Heavy Metal Parallel Card Limited to 10. Should i have a download code as well? If so where should I look?
I would assume your parallel card has the download code on it. I received a John Moreland card in a plastic sleeve with a download code on the back, the print is very small. The card you got definitely sounds like the box topper, your's just happens to be a parallel. Hopefully that helps, if not I'm sure chaps will be able to clarify.

I have 2253 items in my collection, that includes records, CDs and cassettes. They are all listed in a spreadsheet that includes artist, album, year of original release, pressing specific release date, record label, catalog number, format, store (city, state) purchased from, date purchased, new/used, price paid (excluding tax and shipping), and arrival date (for online purchases). I've been keeping track of the categories in red since 12/10/2008, and the last category since Monday, haha. I hope to fill in the last category for my online purchases last year with the receipts I've saved. The number of releases that have all of this information is 853 of the total 2253, though I'm not sure how many are records.
My total spent in 2013 was $856.59, actually much less than I expected. I just started primarily focusing on records within the past couple months. A lot of my purchases before that were CDs, and most of those were used. I try and visit Rasputin in Stockton, California once every few months, but there record selection is minimal and I usually spend most of my time looking for random CDs to fill in my collection. I've bought so many CDs for one song from my youth, but I'd rather pay $1.00 for an album than a song. I strongly dislike digital downloads as the only means of owning music.
So far this year I've spent $338.31, which tells me I'm definitely going to spend more this year than last, especially with my increased interest in vinyl.

I have this forum to thank for my sixth purchase of the week. While browsing another thread I followed a link in a signature, double checked my bank account, and then the numbers on the screen went down again. Ah well, I'd been debating this purchase for awhile.

Spitalfield - Stop Doing Bad Things (3-pack)

I've been browsing the forums, and this thread in particular, for a few days now and decided it was time to become and active member. I figured I'd start with this thread since I like seeing what others are buying, as well as sharing what I've been listening to. This week in particular has been a killer with online orders, and there are a couple more that I may pick up by the end of the weekend.

You promised me 400 dollars.
I said doll hairs!
Give me my money, you pussy!
Haha! The only funny part of that awful David Spade movie, Lost & Found.
