You're not wrong! You can get a pair of Xiaomi Pistons. They sound amazing (sound like $100-200 Shures), are comfortable as hell, compact, flat cable so they're tangle free, and if you lose / break them you're only out $5. If you don't really *need* bluetooth (you sacrifice sound for no cord), get them. You won't regret it. I've recommend them to so many people, including a large handful on here, that all love them. I have had four different models of Xiaomis, and have loved them all. Spend less than $6ppd and you'll find out for yourself. (And yes they do come with various sized ear tips.) If you like these and want to move up the chain check out the Hybrids. They're a whopping $16. Haha.

    * - don't buy from anywhere but those links, even amazon. Sites are known to sell fakes. Gear Best is appropriately named, cause they're best.

And that's coming from a sound snob who has multiple pairs of headphones, has tried headphones at all styles and price points, listens to all kinds of music, but hey, that's just my opinion. These also pair really well with a portable amp if you're into that.

I'll give them a shot! Ordered the Hybrids. I'm always on the lookout for some cheaper alternatives and it seems like these deliver. Having a wire isn't such a big deal. Not having to charge them is a huge pro for me as it's so annoying having to wait two hours for the ones I linked to be charged.

I've been looking into a portable amp, but I'm not sure where to even find a good one. I've searched Reddit a little bit, but didn't look too deep. But I would like one as I mainly listen to music on my phone nowadays. Also curious how it will pair with Tidal's HiFi streaming service.

also thank you for the links. :)

  2. I purchased these Bluetooth ones a while back and still use them. It blocks out the surrounding noise and they don't sound too bad. But then again, I don't have a good pair of headphones to compare, so.

I've been eyeing the Shure that jonrawks posted for a bit now but haven't pulled the trigger on them. For some reason I feel like I shouldn't spend $100 on a pair of IEMs. Feel like I could get a better sound out of a pair of normal headphones. But I'm probably wrong.

  3. Gore lands on my least-favorite album, I think. It has some solid tracks, but it feels very underwhelming. Some tracks don't feel strong at all and leave more to be desired.

Edit: I think that's what the band - and mainly Chino - meant when they were interviewed before the album was released. I remember Chino talking about how when they were writing a song, they decided to take a big left turn away from what they normally do. That might be why I don't like a lot of the tracks.

Also, if you guys haven't checked out the new TA website, it has detailed pressing info for everything they've released. It's pretty rad.

This list is so cool. Love that they have some detailed pictures for each press as well.

I love the fact that Jeremy is a record dork like us. Complete info is hard to come by. I didn't know that there are only 2 in circulation of the first tour 7 inch for Portland. I'm lucky enough to have two different cities for that record and now I need to go home and check to see if I have one of the Portland ones.

I'm surprised he isn't on here. I know he still uses Deadformat for his list, so I can only imagine he's in a vinyl community regularly. I'd be surprised if he isn't.

Hated it at first, but really digging it now. Feels more gritty, more similar to IWICSH and Colourmeinkindness. Not sure about getting it on vinyl but still really digging the new mix.

I agree with you. Definitely feels more familiar with their older albums. It has grown on me and I prefer it over the original now.

I'm also not sure about purchasing the vinyl record for this remix, but I'm curious how the rest of the songs sound.

Got my wife to switch over from iOS and bought her a Fossil Android Wear watch for Christmas. So far she's into it. She got me a Google Home, which isn't specifically Android based but it accompanies my devices well. Love how you can just say, "Hey Google, play [random show] Podcast," and it'll instantly play it. I'm going to replace the Bluetooth adapter on my stereo with a Chromecast Music soon, so I (or anyone) can play any song, album, or podcast on the stereo just play saying, "Hey Google, play [blank], in the music room."

That's good that she's into it. I remember you saying she was stuck to her IPhone like glue.

Do you have it hooked up to your WiFi or does it pair to an Android device?

I wasn't even aware they had a Chromecast Music, but that sounds pretty damn awesome. I remember trying it with Google Now and it did work, but sometimes it would open the app and not play anything. Haven't really tried it with Siri, so can't compare.

The remixed version of Promise Everything sounds like a demo. Shout out to Sam Pura for getting it right in the first take

That's what I thought too. Sounds too rough for me compared to the original, but I like it.

Not sure why they decided to switch labels. RFC is great. :/

Edit: remix is actually really growing on me once I listened with headphones. Might like it more than the original. Not sure how I feel about the "Feeling like a child" part being changed and the ending of the track.

  8. Anything new in the Android world?

I made the switch to iOS mainly because I would notice some lag issues with my N6P. It got me frustrated. Now I'm jailbroken and all I've wanted to do is root a damn Android phone.

Have been debating picking up a N5X, but I do miss the stereo speakers and 1440p display on the N6P. Still thinking about it.

Edit: Pixel looks good, but the price seems steep.
