  1. For those wondering I received the partial refund that I was seeking from the seller. And to address those of you berating me for spending $400 on a record, I didn't spend anywhere near $400 on this originally, that would just be absurd
  2. Yea that's how I feel when I sell a record for $100+ if I package it up and give it a shake and still hear a rattle, I open that beast up and add another layer of bubble wrap or cardboard until it's solid
  3. I thought I read somewhere that 1% of the proceeds from this are going to charity, which is still $20k+ but still it's deceiving from the listing. I'd love to find out how much that guy bought it for considering all the other high ticket collectables he's got for sale too
  4. Wouldn't call this nitpicking, if you would have read past the first sentence or looked at the pics provided that would have been obvious. Clearly a lot of people on ebay will call something mint just to fluff up their listings, but that is beyond the issue in this case
  5. This is a first press too, I'll be watching to see what it ends at
  6. The whole package is important, I look at big record purchases like these as investments, I store them well and play them carefully. And I'm well aware of the whole deja bowl thing, honestly didn't understand why people made it out to be such a big deal (it's insane how long that thread is) People can do with their own records what they please I really couldn't care less. But I definitely wouldn't call this "bitching" in fact beyond the first post I haven't really complained, only elaborated on what my plans are for refund etc
  7. They definitely won't get the same $ back, these have been dropping in price steadily, it's no longer $400+ for every copy that reaches ebay
  8. I'm not holding him hostage, I'm simply outlining to all of you the situation. It's great that you just said they'd be out $100+ because that's approximately the partial refund I'm seeking. There are two things that can happen at this point. The seller refunds the partial amount I'm requesting and I still get a record that i've been seeking out for a long time and we both lick our wounds and call it a day. Option 2 is I send it back, get a full refund, seller may or may not get fv fees refunded and sells damaged record on ebay. They end up getting a % of what it originally sold for (maybe even less than I'm predicting, who knows) then they still have to pay another round of fv fees, buy packing material etc. And at the end of the day they will still be out the same amount of $ as they would have lost by avoiding all the hassle of sending it back for a full refund. If the seller has a shred of common sense they will go with partial refund, as the end result will be the same for them either way. IMO they deserve to take this loss just to learn the lesson and never let it happen again
  9. Happy to hear you've had better luck than myself. When I ordered the Of Monsters and Men RSD from Iceland this year, they shipped it out in a thin cardboard 7" mailer, probably the thickness of 2 pieces of construction paper glued together. By some miracle that arrived in perfect condition
  10. I'm throughly jealous of the guy on VC who picked up that copy for around $50 on the bay a few months ago
  11. Yes that's my point, it's more advantageous for them to just give me a partial refund at this point because if they refund my full purchase amount they will still be out those final value fees from ebay, thus double dipping their loss and giving me the edge to just say they should send a partial refund. The final values fees are already owed by the seller to ebay, they are as soon as the auction is over (even if no one pays) In order for the seller to get their final value fees back from ebay I would have to agree to cancel the transaction after the refund has been sent. But that is entirely up to me the buyer. I don't have to accept the request to cancel the transaction, so I will not be if they choose the full refund route.
  12. I'm saying the seller will lose money in fees anyway, ebay doesn't refund final value fees when a damaged item is returned
  13. Well that's your opinion and of course you're entitled to it, but truthfully after fees lost through ebay and paypal and shipping costs, not to mention the fact I haven't even said how much I paid for this in the first place, I can assuredly say 40% off of what I paid is entirely fair based on current pricing on ebay and where the market is headed. It's no longer at the peak we were seeing months ago, prices are going down, and a copy that looks like this won't be fetching even $200+ anymore. But again as I also said if the seller doesn't agree with that I'm more than willing to just send it back for a full refund, but we also know you're not the seller and most likely would never be in this situation considering we all know never to ship a record in a fucking bubble envelope, but a 10-15% refund would be ridiculous and there's no way you'd request that if you were in my position
  14. Damn dude, that is an impressive collection of deja's. Had I known I would've asked you first! PM me if you're serious about letting a copy go, I'm definitely still interested
  15. Hah totally, if it was good enough to ship it that way to me, I don't see how it wouldn't be good enough for them. That's what I will do actually, no sense in wasting an LP mailer on that bum to ensure a proper delivery back
  16. That's my impression too, I'm petitioning the seller for a partial refund of about 40% of the cost, hoping they just say fuck it and do that
  17. That was exactly my state of mind when I saw the bubble mailer on the bottom of my mail stack :/
  18. This would be ideal It only travelled from Illinois to Minnesota, so I'm sure had I been further from the origin that wax would have been shattered by the time it got to me
  19. I'm honestly surprised the lp's didn't break through the gatefold though Yep I opened the claim and added pics, I know I'll easily get my money back, I'm rooting for a partial refund at this point because I still really want this in my collection
  20. There is a slight scratch on side one, but besides that they look pretty good
  21. I should also note they charged me about $12 for shipping when it only cost about $7
