  1. Honestly, Weezer would have to do something pretty amazing to get me to spend money on another one of their albums. I have both Blue and Pinkerton but while there have been individual songs on the mid-career stuff that I've liked (and gotten singles for), I never listen to a full album. Too much filler, too many weaker pop songs.

I love the cover for the new album but eh. Just not excited anymore.

  2. I DID THIS EXACTLY...

    and I super regret it.

If it's something you really want to do because your interest has waned or you don't enjoy them anymore, go for it. But honestly selling off part of my collection was one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made. I sold maybe 300-400 albums (it was a few years ago and I kept about 100), and some of them are very hard to replace (hard to find, expensive now to replace, etc.) At the time I thought it was great, I didn't have to worry about storage, I got lots of money that helped with school. But now that I'm settled down, building that collection again has been really frustrating.

I wish I had sold the doubles or ones that I didn't listen to anymore and used the money to pay to store all the others. It would have been expensive in the long run but giving up somethings would have been worth it.

I'm sure if you sell them, people here would give you a fair price but in my experience the hassel of keeping them would have been worth it in the long run.

  3. I got the soundtrack to 'Let The Right One In' and while it was pricey, I love the music and the art so I'm pretty happy. I do think that if they were a bit cheaper, I'd try to get all of them but they're generally around $40 around here so I haven't been rushing to get them.

I did hear they were releasing the Twin Peaks soundtrack (http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/music/twin-peaks-soundtrack-lp-vinyl/) so if that actually happens, I'll get it asap.

  4. I was a member of Turntable Kitchen for awhile (you get a limited edition 7" that they press themselves and some recipes/ingredients to a few dishes that match the music).

It was fun to get some new music but I found after awhile I couldn't really justify the price (shipping is more to Canada too). Plus my current apartment has the worst kitchen so I never ended up making a lot of the recipes.

I've been trying to find a well priced record club that isn't too expensive and will ship to Canada. Will definitely check out some of these suggestions (if any other Canadians have ideas, I'd love to hear them).

  5. I am a big Black Keys fan so I'll pick this up for sure but I'm definitely missing the grit of some of their previous stuff. However, I wouldn't be surprised in a "softer" song was released to appeal to a wider audience. Hopefully the rest of the album won't be a let down.

Also going to agree that a blue and pink swirl would be awesome!

  6. I have a few signed records but I don't really collect them.

I don't have any pictures but I have an Arctic Monkeys single ('I Bet You Look Good...' signed by Alex and Matt from their first show in Toronto, a Decemberists album ('Picaresque' signed by the whole band, a Final Fantasy ep ('Has a Good Home'), a bunch of Tegan and Sara stuff (they used to tour my area heavily so I've seen them a lot) and they've sold some autographed stuff with pre-orders too. I don't really think I'd sell them since I got almost all of them signed at shows so it's a nice memory of the show.

  7. Real name:
    Laura

    Favorite Bands:
The Smiths/Morrissey, The White Stripes, Mirah, Magnetic Fields, Arctic Monkeys, Patrick Wolf, way too many more to list

I also collect 60s pop, albums with theramins/sci-fi sound effect type stuff, screenprinted album sleeves (or handmade album sleeves).

    What's your Facebook/Twitter/Tumblr etc.?:

I have a twitter and instragram that I've never used.

    Hobbies (outside of record collecting):
art/design, refinishing furniture, fashion, being outdoors (I love canoeing, hiking, horseback riding, that kind of thing). Mainly record collecting though (tbh)

Play in a band? Run a record label? Link us!:
I just stick to collecting. I have done graphic design work for distros/labels/bands though.

Random things you want us to know about you:

I started collecting because my grandfather gave me his old jazz records as a kid. I work in a library, which I love. I studied graphic design and literature in school. A few years ago I sold a chunk of my collection (partly due to moving related frustrations, partly due to "I can't believe this is my life", and partly to get some money for school). Super regret it now. I love Steve Buscemi. I like snacks. I like travelling but the first thing I always do is try to find the record shops (the first thing I do when thinking about travelling is to check out what kind of shops are around. This may or may not influence my decision to go).
