  1. Ok guys thanks for the link about choosing a turntable and steering me away from the lp 60, it was a very informative and helpful read. Budget wise the best it seems I can afford us the orbit u-turn and have just a couple if questions regarding the setup. Forgive me as I ask simple questions, I wouldn't mind to have a receiver at all, looking at the low end (much like the orbit) of the best bang for money any recommendations tocrun the TT through? I think I will just use some shelf speakers I have already for now and wait until I get my end of year bonus to purchase some, but will have to wait. Budget wise I was thinking $200-$300 for a receiver, may seem low to some but my budget is what it is,2 girls in braces at the same time isn't cheap ha ha! The system will be in our family room and not worried about booming through the entire house . Thanks in advance again guys.
  2. Thanks guys for the help, appreciate it. I'm new here so didn't think to look for a thread dedicated to this topic already so I apologize for that.
  3. Hey all, I have been using a crosley turntable with built in speakers, just a cheap ok turntable to get started, it was free however lol. Anyways my wife and I are really into vinyl now and are looking to upgrade. To give you an example of my price point the turntable I have decided on is the Audio Technics lp 60. Anyways I'd like to get some decent speakers in the mid price range, shelf type, not the huge ones like I had in the 80's lol so looking for some direction. Also I was wondering if someone could explain the pros/cons of just getting an amplifier to run the speakers as opposed to a reciever. I really don't have any interest in listening to the radio in the house to be honest. Thanks so much in advance
  4. Thanks guys so far for the help, it's fun to go looking for albums we had as teenagers. We are even looking to upgrade equipment for our anniversary lol.
