  1. Alright, is this better or not as good as Save Rock and Roll?

Worse. In my opinion, at least. FOB is basically my favorite band, and have been for years. But, I can't help but treat this album like it's just a filler between SRAR and whatever's next (and hopefully better.) It just feels so mismatched and slapped together without much thought. Granted, it was only recorded in 3 weeks... and it unfortunately shows. The songwriting and production feels kinda lazy like they just phoned it in. Songs like Jet Pack Blues, Fourth of JulyFavorite Record, and Immortals are some of the cheesiest FOB songs yet. They're grating to listen to. AB/AP, Uma Thurman, Twin Skeleton's and Irresistible are by far the strongest tracks on it. Again, just my opinion.

  2. Five Score and Seven Years Ago preorder is live.

Says it won't be more than 4,000 units and ships mid/late September.

Yay! Excited for this. I'm laughing though because under the thread for MMHMM people were saying Five Score would never be pressed since it apparently didn't sell well. Ha!

  3. I am helping my wife with the school play this year and I heard her students talking about Fall Out Boy and I was like I loved fall out boy when I was in high school...they all looked at me confused because they didn't know that there were albums before Save Rock and Roll...

It made me feel old...and sad

Same. Recently I was watching "Thriller" from the Live In Phoenix DVD on YouTube... and a kid commented "wait.... I thought this was gonna be The Phoenix??? Why do they look different? What song is this?" Oh, god.

It's interesting to me because Fall Out Boy are kinda at the same point in their career that Green Day was at when they returned with American Idiot. I became a fan of Green Day at that time, and wasn't really aware of their past works since I was young then. It feels like the same thing all over again. FOB have been around for about 14 years now, there are kids out there who are just discovering them. Crazy.

  4. I feel the same about the boxset/12".

As for the album much of the middle just blended together for me. I really dont know how to feel about the album. I got it yesterday and listened to it all the way through and then relistened to it today as I was driving. American Beauty/American Psycho has been my favorite so far. Uma Thurman has grown on me for some reason. Besides those I am unsure about the rest. I dont hate it but I dont find myself loving it.

I am over Centuries, I know that for sure.

I'm probably gonna pass on this vinyl release... I don't love the record enough. And, this is coming from a huge Fall Out Boy fan.

I completely agree about the middle of the album blending together. Those are the weakest songs, imo. "Jet Pack Blues" "Fourth Of July" and "Favorite Record" ...Probably some of the cheesiest songs FOB have ever written, sadly. :\ I hated the title track when I first heard it, but it's grown on me. "Uma Thurman" is probably the song that's grown on me the most. Love it, so catchy. The only song I loved immediately was "Twin Skeletons" but I haven't seen much love for that track. I think people forget about it since it's the closer. But, it's definitely my favorite! (Although bits are super similar to Panic!'s "Miss Jackson" and "Let's Kill Tonight." Not a bad thing, though.)

And, I think it's safe to say everyone is over "Centuries." The guys released an apology to the world for the song being played way too much at sporting events. Hahaha.

  5. I'm exhausted and I haven't even done anything yet today

I must say you handled it better than most. Good to see you learned the terrors of the Crosley.

...oh, and thank you! I think I might have taken their antics a little too seriously though. Which probably didn't help my case, lol.

From what I've seen around here, that was very tame. Not to say it was fun experience for you at all, but it can get really rough around here with newbies.

Stick with us. We are a peaceful thread.

Well, I guess I had nothing to compare it to. Haha. But, it's somehow just embarrassing when strangers band together and make fun of your lack of knowledge on a topic, ahah.

She did. I didn't get it really bad either but I was definitely annoyed!

Guys I'm doing good so far. I haven't given into the coffee temptation.

Yeah, from what I heard it can be much worse... I can't imagine... Just, why?! Honestly...

  6. If you don't mind damaging your records with the sorry excuse for a needle then by all means. Your collection.

There are hundreds of better entry level players. I started with a dual 601 I bought second hand for not much more then a crosley.

Considering I bought it when I was uninformed, and this isn't a huge hobby of mine.. As long as I'm just playing the records I could easily pick up another copy of down the road.. I'm sadly okay with it at the moment, tbh.

  7. You're just here to show off your new username. :). Not gonna lie, I've been visiting a lot more threads to share the tina love.

Was I the only one who cried when OP said she paid $21 above. I would kill to pay that price!!! Oh and I used to have a crosley as well. We all start somewhere so don't feel bad about it. And I did the same, I played the ones that weren't very valuable until I could upgrade to a good table. No one really starts off paying top dollar right of the bat. :).

I was so excitedly nervous on the release day, I literally sat there waiting with my credit card on the Hot Topic website and ordered it as soon as I could, lol. It was around Christmas 2012 so even if it was more than $21 at the time.. I probably would've splurged a little as a gift to myself, haha.

And, yeah. As far as being in THIS community... It's kinda embarrassing to say I have a Crosley, haha. But, outside of here would it be a sin to say I don't mind it that much right now? I mean, since hooking up a small speaker to it.. it actually has more bass, can get pretty loud, sounds pretty clear and fits well in my small room. Aside from what I now know the player does to records (I try not to think about that...) It would be a slightly decent entry-level player for someone with a few records. (Like, myself..)

  8. You realize the copy of AFYCSO isn't that type of "gold record," right? It's just a transparent gold(ish) color. No one would ever look at it and think its worth anything. That being said, I'd LOVE to own it.

My intelligence is feeling slightly insulted right now, lol. Of course I know that Hot Topic/Fueled By Ramen didn't release a 24k gold-plated record of a Panic! At The Disco album, that you wouldn't even be able to play, for $21. That's actually kinda hilarious, omg. I know that when I first started becoming interested in vinyl, I wasn't even aware that variants other than black even existed. haha. So, that being said. If I took some time to frame it all nice in a plaque sort of fashion and someone with limited knowledge took a look at it, they might be tricked into thinking it could be worth something. ;)

  9. It's OK. I started with a Crosley equivalent when I started buying vinyl a couple years ago before I discovered the error of my ways. Luckily I never played anything of value on it. Found a nice player on Craigslist for a good price that made me feel better about picking up IKSOSE: 3. I'd frame it but I like listening to it too much. Also, I never lock my doors lol.

My collection is rather small right now, and although I've been working on collecting the albums that I love above all else first.. about half of those albums happen to be fairly cheap, easy to find, and only of value to me for sentimental reasons. So, I haven't felt tooooooo bad about listening to those ones on it. But, YOU NEVER LOCK YOUR DOORS?!?! The one time I didn't lock my windows was the one time I got robbed. Horrible, lol.

  10. There's quite a bit of difference between one of the most popular and recognizable albums in the history of mankind and AFYCSO but I understand the point you are trying to make.

Also, you should sell me that record so that you can buy a decent player  :)

Of course there's no comparison! haha. This isn't even about AFYCSO anymore. I'm just saying that the average thieve (or human for that matter...) has probably seen a plaque like that in their lifetime, and would assume anything that resembles that sort of display must be worth something if you're going to frame it and hang in that fashion.

HA! Over my dead body, lol. I might be a shameful owner of a Crosley. But, I am a proud owner of that record. :P

  11. I said earlier it was dangerous to have the whole LP (with vinyl) framed because of theft. I said this because there was a female user here (name escapes me) that thought she had her framed Deja Entandu stolen then found out her kids wanted to fix the broken glass. So that's one scenario.

Then there was a user here from Australia that had a bunch of his records stolen, but he did manage to get them back.

So, what I am saying is, that theft of records is not out of the question especially framed "valuable" ones on the wall.

Thanks for bringing this up! I didn't think the idea of having records stolen was that unheard of. My original point about framing records + theft.. is that the average thieve (even if they know nothing about vinyl records or music) has probably seen something like this before:

    michael-jackson-platinum-disc-cover-thri

And, for that reason.. if they see anything remotely like that on your wall, there's a chance they will assume it's worth something and take it just in case. So, if you have any records framed in that sort of way that have any sort of value.. it's just a possibility.

I'm kind of mad seeing AFYCSO framed and not played. I want one so bad.

Would you rather me play it on my Crosley Cruiser of Death? :D Because, I don't want to do that......

  12. I fail to see how this is awkward. It wasn't really a compliment, more like an hypothesis.

Is that better? Or, rather, more awkward?

Idk, just because my appearance was brought up on here when it's a thread about framing vinyl records...? o.O. And, it's awkward for me now to know that it wasn't really a compliment, lol. Yes, let's just move on please.......

(P.s. How does one "lock" a thread on here anyway?)

  13. And, lol yes. I understand that Panic! At The Disco records are not that valuable to a lot of people. To be honest, I do feel a little bad because I probably shouldn't even be starting a small collection of records anyway since I own a Crosley Cruiser of Death. But, I know that I'll eventually get a nicer player, and I'm happy to snag these albums I love at low prices while I can.

For all of the above reasons, I don't wanna ruin AFYCSO by playing it. So, I'm choosing to keep it framed for the time being.

  14. When a record itself is displayed like it's a gold record plaque or something... People would probably take a wild guess and assume it's worth something and take it in addition to whatever else. Regardless if they know who the heck Panic! is or not. Haha. I don't want to feel guilty about having my copy and choosing to frame it, though. :( I DON'T KNOW! Don't hate me. At least, rest assured that the record means a lot to me and I didn't just buy it to frame it because "eh why not? it looks kinda cool"

  15. If I were to do it I would definitely do it so that you could see both the LP and the cover. I think it just looks like best. If it's just the sleeve then what's the point? Just get a poster.

Idk. Maybe I'm just weird.. But, framing the record in it's cover doesn't bother me at all. I look at it, and I know the album is in there. And, if anyone asks.. I'll tell them or whatever. It definitely looks lovely when both the cover and the record are displayed, though. :) But, I was also robbed once before, so I'm paranoid that if I had a rare framed gold record on my wall, ya know.... It'd be stolen, lol. So, I'm all for keeping valuable things ~incognito~ in that case. I just don't particularly mind either way, tbh. As long as you're displaying it how you waaaaant.

  16. I'm still new here, and came across this thread. It's been going on for 4 years.. so, might as well add to it! :)

I dunno! I'm 21. I'm obsessed with Titanic. (Both the 1997 film, and the actual history/disaster.) I have a tattoo on my arm that says "make it count" which is a quote I took from the film and is basically just my life motto. I also have 3 small finger tattoos on my right hand. One finger for for each of my 3 favorite bands from adolescence. (Green Day, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco.)

    :D Sooo, yeah. That's me!

  17. At Warped Tour '08 she said "sing this one really loud so the boy I wrote this about can hear it"

Relient K was playing Warped that year too...

But she also wrote The One That Got Away for him... she said in Columbus that the song was about "a boy from Ohio... that lived a little northeast from here"

Oh, wow. That's actually really sweet. I mean, I'm sure other writers were involved there, haha. But, Matt is an awesome guy so that kinda makes me like that song a little more now. :)
