  1. I mean, they're technically not in direct sunlight. They're more kinda in the corner. (The Green Day one is just a wooden plaque I bought years ago, btw. Haha.) And, I don't have much wall space in my room. So, that was really the only spot! That's what I did with the Amy Winehouse record! She's one of my favorite female artists and her albums mean a lot more to me now that she's gone. So, I wanted to frame one of hers. But, I listen to her music so often that I decided to buy two for that reason, as well! Although, Back To Black was only around $13 a copy and isn't anywhere near as rare (and now, expensive) as my gold copy of Panic! At The Disco's A Fever You Can't Sweat Out.. (pictured above.) I wasn't really planning on listening to the gold copy of AFYCSO too much. I just really wanted to own it for sentimental reasons. And, even though the record itself can't be "seen" in the frame I have.. I still like to look at it and know that I'm lucky enough to own one and that it's actually in there, ya know? I've had it framed for almost two years now in the same spot and took it down last week to listen to it for the first time since I got it. Played fine, sounded fine!
  2. I was recently told that it's less safe to frame a record than to keep it stored elsewhere? (Not just the record itself - But in it's cover.) I'm curious as to the reasons why. I love looking at my wall and knowing there's a rare, gold pressing of one of my favorite records in that frame. For that reason, it was the first thing I thought of doing once I got it. I just tried to google why it wouldn't be safe to frame them.. But, all I got were links to buy record album frames, lol. Just started this topic because I couldn't quickly find an answer, and the info might be of use to another newbie in the same boat...
  3. Interesting, lol.. I did not know that! Probably one of my favorite songs on the album. I'll have to listen with fresh ears now...
  4. Thanks for adding this! Dang. It seems like everything RK does these days flies right under the radar. They're one of my favorites and I had no idea this tour was even a thing, lol. I've seen them twice though, and I might not be around for the Boston date. So, I'll probably have to pass on this one sadly...
  5. You seem very nice. As far as the setup thing goes.. Collecting records isn't my #1 hobby. I've spent so much on equipment for my music and photography over the years. Having an awesome setup isn't exactly a priority at this time for me. Somewhere down the line I will most likely upgrade. But, my $99 Crosley Cruiser of Death will have to do for now. I appreciate you trying to see where I'm coming from here! When I say my collection is nearing "completion" I just mean the list of albums I would really like to own above all else right now. And, it happens to be a short list I guess. As a side note - I downloaded Paramore's self titled album from iTunes when it was released. I put it on my iPod but never actually ended up listening to it. It wasn't until I decided to randomly pick it up on vinyl one day that I just chilled in my room and devoted my time to listening. Now, I know practically every word to every track, listen to my copy often and really enjoy/appreciate the record! I don't know if I ever would've gotten around to it had I not bought a physical copy. It just doesn't feel like I "own" an album without being able to hold it in my hands. (Which is why I'm only focused on owning the albums I already love at the moment!) And, aw! Thank you by the way!!!
  6. Yeah, I looked up his profile and was genuinely confused as to whether or not he was being serious. Haha. But, thank you! I think everyone has their opinion on what's bland or no good. I mean, I love Paramore. I think they write solid tunes, have a lot of high-energy, and really stand out as far as being a very successful mainstream female-fronted rock band. There haven't been many (that I can think of, correct me if I'm wrong) since early No Doubt, really. Every female-fronted band that comes anywhere near pop/punk these days is almost immediately compared to Paramore, and that makes me feel like they've left their mark on the industry/music world. Even though I really enjoy their music, they're not my absolute favorite band or anything. (Even though I'm on a major Paramore kick right now...) Green Day was originally my favorite band for the longest time, until I actually started getting curious about other bands in and outside of that genre. Granted.. it was 2005, I was 11, and American Idiot was the album that got me into them. Hence, why the next two bands I really latched onto were Fall Out Boy and Panic! At The Disco. I completely understand what you're saying about a band still having a place in your heart down the road.. but, not exactly listening to them all the time anymore. That's where I'm at with Green Day. I still love them, but they were like a gateway band for me that opened my eyes and helped me discover what I love today. As for right now, at 21, I can confidently say with 0% shame that Fall Out Boy is my favorite band at the moment. Stylistically I love a lot of Jazz, R&B and Funk now, and Patrick Stump is just oozing with soul and has some background in that stuff. Which they incorporated on their albums Infinity On High and Folie a Deux.. but, somehow still managing to include those pop/punk elements that I love. So, yeah. As long as they continue to make music I genuinely enjoy.. I think I'll always love them, at least. Oh, and I can assure you that I am not a skilled troll. If I ever sounded dumb on here, it's because I was simply uninformed. Haha.
  7. I was just about to add this to my "want" collection, and ended up finding this thread! Yessss! Happy to know that I haven't missed this release. Definitely gonna keep an eye out for it!!
  8. Thanks, Travis! That's all I'm trying to do, haha. It's just annoying though, naturally. Can't help wanting to respond to that kind of stuff with your 2 cents sometimes...
  9. Huum.... I'm getting the feeling this ZayZay character is someone who is widely disliked in this community, and for that reason I'm feeling a bit ostracized here. But, if that's your goal.. congratulations! This has been a verrrry warm and pleasant welcome, lol.
  10. Because, it's a format of music that (although is "trendy" now) isn't practical for the average 2014 music listener and may even be obsolete soon. Who knows?! At least I'm a product of the 2000s generation who is actually still buying physical copies of albums. Let alone, vinyl records. Opposed to just downloading music and not spending time reading liner notes, or appreciating the album art or listening experience. When I do decide to listen to the records I own, it's an activity for me. It's a different thing listening to the music I love on vinyl. And, a lot of people my age and younger wouldn't/don't appreciate it. Vinyl records are obviously something everyone on this website loves. I think we should all be happy if younger generations continue to show interest in them and continue to purchase them, so that the demand for vinyl will still be high years from now. Instead of being vinyl-collecting snobs and sticking your nose up at younger buyers who lack the knowledge or number of records you have.
  11. Well, that's no way to spend your time. This is about music. You should be happy I'm even interested in owning some vinyl. There shouldn't be all these "rules" and you shouldn't just mock people simply because they're not as "educated" or as into collecting vinyl as you are. Anyway, shameless plug. Since I've brought it up.. You should check out some of my covers and whatnot, haha. http://youtu.be/2m-DAAbfJeg
  12. I clearly said "at this moment in time." Of course I listen to more than just 18 albums. Jeeez. I'm a musician. I grew up listening to and singing Jazz and Motown amongst other stuff. I am familiar with plenty of artists, genres/styles of music. But, I only have a special connection to a small number of albums. Which, happen to mostly be the pop/punk/rock stuff I listened to when I was a teenager. And, those are the only albums I really want to own on vinyl right now. I said before that I'm not out to become a "veteran collector" like a lot of you are. Simple. Believe it or not, there are people out there who don't only listen to music via vinyl records. I just love having physical/vinyl copies of the albums I really love and enjoy. Wow, you guys seriously always find something to complain about...
  13. Because, at this moment in time.. My collection consists of only about 18 or so records, and is almost complete. A little background so I can wrap this up, here. Haha... I'm 21 and started "finding myself" as a person through music when I was in middle school. So, most of the bands/albums I still love 10 years later are from the last 10-15 years maybe. I have small tattoos for my 3 favorites (Green Day, Fall Out Boy, P!ATD) as a reminder/tribute to that time in my life. Since the albums I love are newer records, a lot (if not all) of the pressings are these "limited edition" releases. For that reason, I'm more focused on snatching up these rare copies for only 20-25 bucks each when they initially go on sale, rather than waiting and saving my money. I found this out the hard way when I didn't order the recent pressing of FOB's Take This To Your Grave in an "attempt to save money.." (I decided to order my gold copy of AFYCSO instead of just ordering both) and boy was THAT a mistake, lol. I know that I don't really need a better setup right now. And, by the time I saved up money and spent it all on a more reliable turntable, better quality external speakers, and whatever else... The only way to get my hands on these records would be to blow anywhere between $70 to $400 (that I don't have) on ONE record ALONE. So, to be honest.. I think I'm doing the right thing, considering. Haha. I simply walked into a store with some birthday money recently, and saw a cruiser for $99. It fit my budget and essentially gets the job done. I'm not spinning my records too often. Just when I'm relaxing in my room or whatever. Basically, in conclusion... For me to spend all my money on a higher quality setup right now - instead of spending it on the (mostly rare) records I love and want to own - just wouldn't be practical. And, yes. Thank you to those of you who have been nice to me on here. haha. I appreciate that.
  14. I do have external speakers. I took those photos my first day with the cruiser. I was testing it out to see how the internal speakers actually sound. Although, I don't even need it to be that loud in my room. I mainly use them for better sound quality, obviously.
  15. Because, I only hop on to forums regarding the albums I own or am interested in buying. (If I have any questions..) Even though I'm a musician, and love music more than anything.. I know that I'm most likely not going to become a veteran collector since it's quite expensive. (The fact that I have a Crosley should've been a red flag, lol.) My rather small collection of my favorite albums is actually almost complete. Just for me to own, appreciate the physical copies/album art, and listen to casually in my room. So, for that reason.. Maybe the blasting could be toned down a bit? Haha..
  16. No, I know you do. It's just annoying when people mock me on here since I ~obviously~ don't know what I'm talking about, lol.
  17. Well, then they shouldn't specifically sell "record album frames" ..........Since my record player is obviously crap, I don't see the problem with keeping a rare album that I love safe and framed for the time being.
  18. I don't understand......... Fever is mostly an electronic album, and for that reason I personally like listening to the digital recording. (Since I obviously don't have the proper record player to listen to it on.) What's wrong with keeping it framed? I love the album. At least I'm taking care of it.
  19. I mean, the only thing I'm guilty of is taking some photos of Panic! at the Disco's vinyl discography (since I finally own them all) on my cruiser and posting them on there. But, it's not like I was calling them or the player ~vintage~ haha. http://itsbrittanybutler.tumblr.com/post/90988239545#notes
  20. I will say... The best (or worst for that matter) part is how many people tag them as "vintage."
  21. I mean, just for listening to records softly in my room... The cruiser I have is alright. Even though it can't play AWKIF and one or two others without skipping horribly. But, other than that it's okay for casual use. I'm definitely gonna try to save up now to get a nice set up, though since I'm working on collecting all my favorite records..
  22. Okay, I'll admit that I'm guilty of that. But, they're so inexpensive. Which is why the casual listener would buy one. But, you'd think they'd at least make them somewhat reliable since they're sold everywhere..
  23. It's weird, though. It doesn't work on my cruiser. But, my mum has one of those Crosley radio/turntable/CD players... And, it plays AWKIF fine. Granted, it's slightly pitched (a smidge higher..) which is annoying. But, yeah. Why is Crosley even a brand that makes "turntables" if said turntables can't even play records correctly? Honestly...
