Well I moved my weight from 2.5 to 3 grams and it virtually removed all surface noise

Yeah that was the first thing I did. Could they require heavier tracking?

I recently purchased Rancid's first 4 albums on colored vinyl. Although they sound fine when playing there is a TON of surface noise between tracks and this is on all the pressings. Now I have a few NOFX records on black vinyl and they sound amazing and I have the Bad Religion box set which are all on some version of red and most of them sound good so I was a little upset at the quality of these Rancid albums. Anyone else running into this?
