Good to know. It would seem really fucking weird if they advertised it when it was already sold out.
That seemed weird to me too. But anyway, that's still one hell of a way to get the rest pre-orders taken care of. Or at least anyone who's "in the know" lol

Yeah, I think the 7" is probably already sold out. I got an email from Glacial Place that more or less suggested that.
The video for "Coyotes" was solid, the song itself just didn't stand out. Kind of seems like a strange choice for getting people pumped about the album. "Lampshades on Fire" was better, just not quite as attention-grabbing as the lead singles from the last two albums.
It's Modest Mouse though; cautious optimism has been the name of the game for nearly a decade.

From the Glacial Page website:
First 2500 purchases containing Strangers To Ourselves LP version receive a complimentary copy of the limited Lampshades On Fire/Coyotes 7" ********if you ordered before 01/19/15 your LP order will automatically contain this limited 7"Not a huge fan of "Coyotes" but this is a pretty cool bonus. -
Update: All Misfits albums are still badass.

The MCR site says it's a Newbury Exclusive, Newbury says it's exclusive, I'm inclined to believe it's exclusive. And yeah, totally agree, TCFSW is perfect on solid red. The thing about vinyl is that it's a real work of art; I get that Newbury is generally overpriced but a collector's item is a collector's item. I make $9 an hour but if I fucking love the music and I decide it's worth it, it's totally worth it.
But nobody should ever pay $45 for a Sublime album lol.

Danzig had more good songs than Graves because he was in the band longer and they produced the most material, but "Famous Monsters" is the most consistently badass Misfits record. I definitely prefer Michale Graves a vocalist, even his solo stuff is awesome. The thing about "Famous Monsters" is that pretty much any song could be your favorite; there's totally nothing wrong with early Misfits, obviously, but Danzig's albums had a lot of filler in some places. "Famous Monsters" (and "American Psycho," to a large extent) was just all killer riffs, big stadium-sized choruses, and probably most importantly it contains "Saturday Night," which isn't only the best Misfits song but also one of my favorite songs of all time (I wrote a short story based on the song for my university's writing journal). And seriously, considering his age when he joined the band, Graves could've probably stuck around a lot longer and saved the band from producing the half-assed punk-by-numbers embarrassment that was "The Devil's Rain." I saw them play in Pensacola last December, with Jerry Only as the vocalist, and the collective eye-roll that took place when this version of the band tried to tackle Graves-era songs stays with me to this day.
In short, Michale Graves rules. My favorite Misfits record I own is the "Famous Monsters" picture disc. The album cover is kind of cheesy but perfect for the music.

I'll talk shit about pop-punk music all day long but Black Parade is actually a really good album. And for Newbury, $29.99 isn't a bad price for a double-LP.
-
I honestly prefer the Newbury version. They're slightly overpriced but they do a good job with the reissues, the quality is always fantastic. Also, not into the idea of walking into Hot Topic lol.

Preordered. Album artwork is badass + reassuring.

Monuments was really disappointing for me, just so repetitive. It feels like Corgan doesn't have much to say lately.

Super disappointed by the "new" single. I mean, if a band's been playing something live for...3-4 years, is it really new?
It also sounds like it could've been a B-side off We Were Dead... and the re-use of the da-da-das from "World at Large" just seems like a huge lack of creativity - especially after 7 years!
I'm really hoping the album is better than this.
This artwork is great though.
Yeah that's true, the live version from 2011 doesn't sound much different from this. Still, Modest Mouse is one of those bands whose songs make more sense in the context of a full album. For the last decade or so it seems like they've been picking crowd-pleasers as their singles, so this is kind of a cool curveball. Maybe I'm just being optimistic.
-
The single is interesting, wouldn't sound out of place on "We Were Dead..." Still got faith in these guys for now though. Damn good cover for the single though.
-
I hope this one doesn't suck. "We Were Dead..." was good and so was "Good News..." but it kind of feels like their best work is behind them. Another "Moon & Antarctica" would be nice

Newbury's really laying the new releases down thick for the holiday season. Overpriced opportunists with extremely good taste in vinyl.
-
Just pre-ordered, damn thing is beautiful.
-
Just pre-ordered, can't wait for this one.

Yeah, the first pressing was 500 copies; 100 gold and 400 black with gold labels according to Discogs. Someone had a gold vinyl copy up for about 12 hours asking $175, which I was almost ready to pay. Everyone's got that one record they're chasing after.
-
It's kind of a niche label, but Italians Do it Better has always been great. Always free merch with their orders
-
Bumping because a copy went up on Discgos for a few hours and then vanished lol

I can't find this one anywhere, it's pretty much the last one I need for my Parquet Courts collection. If you're looking to sell, let me know; got a lot of dough set aside to buy this one.

Dude, that was insane. Almost everything was gone in fifteen minutes. Managed to get the original pressing of Night Drive, signed Kill for Love, After Dark 2, and Beatbox.
Johnny Jewel is already on Facebook talking with people and ordering represses, so if you didn't get something you wanted, I wouldn't be too worried. They're the best label about pricing/customer service.
