  1. How do the Banquet variants sound?  Contemplating a long distance order even though I would feel guilty about canceling on my local shop and can't really justify spending the extra cash....

Other option might be having a friend in Boston pick up a Newbury in store.   Are people with the Newbury TIALD happy with their purchase?

Also, anybody know the #pressed on the Banquet? (sorry for all the questions).

  2. Ordered yesterday morning, just got a shipping confirmation that 3 of my 6 have shipped.   However, while on the phone with them this morning, I ordered 3 more LPs (they offered free shipping) and they were supposed to send me a confirmation email with order number.   So far... nada.  And the new order doesn't show up under my account either.   Oh well, I'll either get a random email later tonight or I'll just call them again in the morning.

  3. The reissue of Slim Shady or the OG? I have a copy of the original in less than stellar condition and I still find it to sound quite good!

The new re-issue.   But I appreciate the response.  Also, Yellow House should probably be removed from my purchased list as SSD just emailed me saying they couldn't obtain the record from the supplier.  Oh well.

  4. Hmmm... wish I had read all the way through this thread before placing my order.

3 of the items I ordered were listed as in stock (and excellent deals)

    Gorillaz: Self Titled

    Porcupine Tree: In Absentina

    Eminem: Slim Shady LP

3 of them, however, were had the red 5-10 day marker

Grizzly Bear: Yellow House (which I recently tried ordering from SSD only to be told they were out)

    Four Tet: Rounds

Homeboy Sandman: Last of a Living Breed

I had ordered Slim Shady/Homeboy this morning from Amazon because they were very low on stock (2 and 1 respectively)... Hopefully, they can get me the Sandman album and canceling the order doesn't backfire (then again, at these prices it probably would have been worth the risk anyways considering I can always snag Living Breed at a later date from discogs).

Anyways, has anybody actually received an album that was listed in RED... like ever from this site?

  5. Warpaint- The Fool

    Talk Talk- Spirit of Eden

Grizzly Bear- Yellow House & Veckatimest

Homeboy Sandman- First of a Living Breed

Eminem: Slim Shady LP- (Can anybody attest to the quality of this one?  Asked in a couple other spots and haven't found a response).

    Throwing Muses: Purgatory/Paradise

  6. Can anybody in this thread comment on the quality of the Slim Shady LP release? Amazon was supposedly down to only 2 copies and Ameoba was out so I decided to order it (was waiting for XMas).

Also, I know it's not in the same series of releases, but I'm looking for some guidenice on which version of The Score to snag. Been both a Music on Vinyl (import so more expensive) and a Columbia reissue in the past couple years.

    Thanks in advance.

  7. Sifting through this thread months after it started is quite amusing. Especially the section where people are fighting over NIN and MMs popularity (I would love a Fragile reissue).

Lonesome Crowded West is one of my 5 or so favorite albums of all-time, and the announcent of its reissue is what caused me to finally splurge on a turntable.

Quick question in the case that somebody here is in the know (there seem to be a couple lurking). Several people have mentioned these are very likelY to stay in print. Is the same true for the version of Moon and Anarctica that'been around for awhile (or the 7"s for that matter)?

Being somebody who is fresh out of grad school and buried in debt, I'm trying to be pragmatic about how I build a collection. Which means I'm mostly limiting myself to one album per artist at first unless something is going to, or may, slip back out of print (for example, I'll have snagged 3 in total of the Can reissues once Future Days comes out).

Lastly, I'll just add that I find it "odd" that the band found it necessary to press Sad Sappy Sucker while ignoring Building Something Out of Nothing (probably my 3rd favorite MM album). Hopefully that gets remedied in the near future.

  8. One last question,

Considering the feedback on the Black Star album, and lack there of on The Score, I started looking into other hip-hop reissues. The Slim Shady LP was done in limited quantaties and seems to be getting harder to find.

Has anybody heard if Universal's reissue is any good? A Google search pulls up absolutely nothing, and discogs has no reports either way... which is kind of crazy consider the iconic (and mainstream) nature of the album.

  9. I'm sure there will be are some repeats within my list (and it is North American centric) but...

Porcupine Tree: US RELEASES so I don’t have to drop $40 a pop.
    Boo Radley: Giant Steps
    Mogwai: Young Team
Throwing Muses: The Real Romona, University
Beta Band: Three EP’s, Heros to Zeros
    AZ: Pieces of A Man
    Blur: Think Tank
Red Red Meat: Bunny Gets Paid
    Cocteau Twins: Treasure
    Unrest: Imperial f.f.r.r.
    Mars Volta: Frances the Mute
    Sonic Youth: Washing Machine, Sister
    Marilyn Manson: Anti-Christ Superstar
    Aesop Rock: Float
    Grizzly Bear: Horn of Plenty
    Doomtree: Doomtree
    Gravenhurst: The Western Lands
    Glitch Mob: Drink the Sea
    Dinasour Jr: Green Mind
    Gorillaz: Demon Days
    Alice Coltraine: Eted the Dead
Mogwai: The Young Team, Goverment Sessions
    Tool: All
    Max Richter: The Blue Notebooks
    Sebedoh: Bubble and Scrape
    Queen Latifah: Black Reign
    Massive Attack: Mezzanine
Infected Mushroom: Converting Vegetarians, Classical Mushroom
    Beastie Boys: Liscened to Ill
    P.O.S: Never Better
    Beck: Mellow Gold
    Van Morrison: Veedon Fleece
    Yeasayer: All Hour Cymbals
Talk Talk: Laughing Stock (of good quality this time)
    System of a Down: Toxicity
De La Soul: Buhloone Mind State
Yeah, Yeah Yeah: Fever To Tell
Built to Spill: There’s Nothing Wrong With Love
    Ugly Casanova: Sharpen Your Teeth
Atmosphere: Seven’s Travels, Lucy Forward EP
Modest Mouse: Build Something Out of Nothing
    Moby: Play
    Nine Inch Nails: The Fragile
    Offspring: Americana
    Brian Eno: Warm Jets
Squarepusher: Music is Rotted in One Note
Department of Eagles: The Cold Nose/Whitney Moon EP
    Cunninlynguists: ALL
System of a Down: Toxicity, Mesmerize
    Tortiose: TNT
    Rudimental: Home
    Opeth: Damnation
    Shpongle: Nothing is Lost...
    Isis: Panopticon

I'd also kill for first pressings of several "mix-tape" released hip-hop albums from the past couple of years especially:

    Chance the Rapper: Acid Rap
    Earl Sweatshirt: Doris
    Joey Bada$$: 1999
    Kendrick Lamar: Section 80
  10. Thanks for the input... sounds like your a bit on the fence.   Would you purchase again (knowing what you know now)?  Thoughts by anybody else are more than welcome.

Also, does anybody know of any noticible differences between all these versions of The Score that have come out in the past couple years?  Music on Vinyl realsed one in the UK that goes for a slightly higher rate than the Columbia/Sony release from a couple years later...  I believe both are on 180.   The original version was supposably analog but I can't find anything as it pertains to these represses.

  11. Hey all,

New member here.  Finally broke down and started a vinyl collection a couple months back, stumbled upon this place last week.

Quick question...  Has anybody purchased/listened to the new re-issue of Black Star's classic hip-hop album from 98' (part of the Respect the Classics series)? I ask because it's a picture disc, and I (having never bought one) have heard that the sound on picture discs can be suspect.   It's the same reason I've held off on buying Brother Ali's Shadows on the Sun... actually any input on that one would be more than welcome as well.

If it's a bad pressing, I'll just buy The Fugees instead, but it'd be nice start getting some of my favorite underground hip-hop albums into the collection.  To this point, I've mostly purchased rock, jazz or electronica.
