  1. I could not back this any harder. One of the best investigative pieces I've ever read.

seriously, I've tried looking for other books about columbine but this is just the best out there. everything just sucks in comparison

For real. The amount of research he did is insane. The details he was able to get from survivors made reading this incredibly difficult in spots. The way he flipped back and forth between the details of the shooting and the rest of the story worked so well. It allowed for the conflict to build and then he'd effortlessly release. It was the written equivalent of a post-rock song.

  2. I had an idea earlier for a song about two people in a long-term relationship who work too hard to notice that they don't even love each other anymore. It's told from the perspective of their landlord who showed them their first apartment together, collected their rent, fixed problems with the apartment, and watched the relationship deteriorate.

If this song doesn't talk about how terrible the apartment's water pressure is then I call bullshit. Oh, it should probably go into a super heavy breakdown after that. You know, for emphasis.

  3. the mutiny is a great bar if you have no sense of smell and are caught up on all your immunization shots.

additionally if you drink, pay the extra money for the bottled beer rather than the mini pitchers, I know waaay too many people who've gotten food poisoning from their beer, because they either don't wash the pitchers that people drink out of and/or they never clean the beer lines...place is a dump.

When we played there it wasn't that bad. They had cleaned up a lot of the garbage that used to just kind of be sitting everywhere. It was far from "nice," but it made a bit of a step forward. That said, I wouldn't eat or drink anything from there.

  4. His older stuff is good, but he always kind of paled in comparison to the other people in Doomtree. This is the first record of his where I think he stands on his own and really establishes an identity. Lazerbeak's work on this definitely gave him the beats that he needed to push him forward.
