  1. I found the album Abbey Road in a garage sale last sunday and I can't find it on the internet. There are no pictures of this sleeve or this label.
    It's a PCS 7088 pressing from 1969

Can you help me to find the same one or give me information ?

I know the sleeve is in bad shape. Have you ever seen this sleeve with the "EMI Apple" logo (top left corner) and the "Full dimensional stereo also playable in Mono" logo ?

Alright on this side. Do you know a version of this album with a folded sleeve ?
Moreover, I noticed that "Printed by Garrod & Lofthouse International Ltd" was blacked out.

I can't find a version of this label.
There is no Made in U.K or Mfd in U.K written.
    This version has "
Production by GEORGE MARTIN" written before the name of the tracks.
Then there is this weird "Stereo & Mono" o.O

Finally, it's usualy a circle around the "P" before the date no ?

Can you share your information (if you have some) so I'll know if it was worth it to wake up that sunday...

    Thank you

  2. I think that the statistics they have are valid to go off of for the value of records. And remember: If it's not available in stores anymore, the value is decided by the sellers. You can sell records for less than what they usually go for, but if everyone started to do that, then the resale market value would go down as a whole. I don't see how using Discogs as a source would lead us to 'under-price' at all, really.

Well it's easily doable actually the same record will most of the time (if not always)?be cheaper on Discogs than Amazon,eBay,cdandlp, musicstack, cdiscount, priceminister and so on. I used to price my records on different sites but I had to stop and refer to Discogs because they were always cheaper on this website.

But I mean there is nothing new that's the freedom of competition and the lack of restriction for setting up prices. One of the biggest battlefield of retailers.

  3. Actually, what he's telling you is it's exactly the same as discogs, because Discogs lets you sell all of those as well as DVDs.

Here's an example of a DVD for one of my favorite live performances, with 2 for sale. http://www.discogs.com/Ben-Folds-and-WASO-Live-In-Perth/release/666429

    I'm aware of this. Does Discogs let you buy/sell/swap turntables - belt - stylus - headphones - speakers - iPods - guitars ... ?

  4. If you under-price it (which means people now have to compete against you) then that means people will do one of two things: 1. Start listing things somewhat lower in an effort to grab the buyer's attention, or 2. The under-priced item will sell and the other sellers do nothing, and with nothing else under-priced left to compete with, they leave their original asking prices.

So don't you think that considering Discogs as the only source to price records leads us to underprice records ?

  5. The record going for different prices has to do with the condition it's in. Otherwise, if every copy is, say, M/M condition, and they ranged from $5-$50, you'd buy the one that's the cheapest. It's not really rocket science.

So let's say my record is VG but I say it VG+ (so it's in the VG+ section ) and I know that you guys are looking for the cheapest one so I under price it ? I'm might sell it but what happen to the seller trying to know how much is copy is worth and take my under price into account to price his/her copy ?

Other thing the lack of pictures on Discogs is really striking me. All the records in sellin have at least 6 pictures in the ad.

  6. When you say you're confused by all the entries, do you mean all the variants? The prices aren't confusing. You click on the record/variant you want, click "Buy Vinyl" and look at the prices. I'm having a hard time getting what exactly you're pointing at in terms of confusion.

No no what is interesting with discogs are the variants (label-year-country...)

What is confusing is that the same record (with the same variants) can go from $5 to $50. Plus I've seen some duplicates of records (with the same criteria) and again the prices were really different.

To me too much information simply kills the information. Because people are forced to put informations but still free to create as many variants as wanted, sometimes it's not accurate (specially with French records, it can be a pain in the butt to find online the copy I have in front of me)

And this huge amount of informations that people are asked to put is mostly for Discogs to be on top of the search page (when you look on google directly) thanks to the SEO.

But hey it's still the leader so it's still pretty da*n good.

  7. How many sales have been completed through the site since it inception?

Many sales have been made since the website was launched.

What surprised me is the number of people that bought me turntables, radios, headphones and tape recorders.

On top of that I'm selling my records easier than on other French websites (I don't use discogs because I find it too messy)

An other option is to follow other sellers on the website ( you get an email as soon as the seller you're following list something ) some of my records don't stay more than 2 hours.

I mean it's working fine for me, it's up to you to use it or not.

I do appreciate that you took the time to visit the website. Thank you

  8. Browsing through USA sellers didn't have usd as their currency. This is confusing for American buyers. The listing I looked at also said it accepted credit cards. How does that work for the sellers to get paid.

There is no different currencies available for the moment but this is not a problem to get paid. You have to link your PayPal account to get paid. Once it's done you get paid automatically and instantly.

Again give it a try to judge by yourself

  9. And your point that it is only for music is pointless because every other site you can just look at the music category and it's the same thing.

The whole point of Discogs is not to have to look for a Vinyl Records category because it's mostly about records.

The idea with Waves Records is to make the search for potential buyers easy which would allow seller to target people interested in Music related items.

My point is that if you sell on eBay you're going to target pretty much every profile (buyers) while with Waves Records you're sure to target only people interested in Music.

There are tons of good reasons to use this website if you think about it...

  10. That's not true at all. Look at that Discogs app thread. It got a lot of positive feedback from the community, because it was something that was needed. Do you honestly think WavesVinylsRecords is needed?

So what you're telling me is that it's exactly the same as discogs with the added ability to sell DVDs, as in movies?

Not at all you can Buy/Sell/Swap : Vinyl Records (even art on records) - CDs - DVDs - Blu-Ray - Cassette Tape - Turntables - Tape Recorders - Radios - Speakers - Docks - CD Players - iPod- MP3 Players - Amplifiers - Subwoofers - Headphones - Earphones - Mixer - Music Instruments - Books

What's different from Ebay-Craiglist-Amazon-Cdiscount ? Waves Records is ONLY about Music. It's a Market Place so it's only C to C transactions (which mean good deals).

Sign up is free, it doesn't cost you anything to at least try the features.

  11. I hear you guys, and I'm thankfull for the comments you made, at least it gives me hints on what is wrong with the idea.

The market Place offers the possibility to "swap" everything you would sell. Plus you can also "rent" (not records of course). So I think that is the difference with what is already in place.
The main difference with Discogs is you're free to type all the informations related to the record you want to sell (it's optional to type the date of release, serial number...). The big difference is that you can buy/sell/swap everything related to Music. And on top of that you can look for people selling stuff in your area (usefull when your looking for a stylus, an iPod, headphones or whatever and you realize there is someone selling it 2 miles away from you).

I'm not saying that you guys should stop using eBay or Discogs. I would like you to compare the different websites and tell me Ok I don't like Waves Records because of this or that...

And I'm aware it looks like Discogs or Ebay or Craiglist. It does, but there is no way to create something new, we can only improve (or try to improve what's already been created). You can design a new car with the internet in and 50 airbags for safety, it will always need tyres and a wheel to be driven (yes I know the analogy isn't the best but I have to feed the haters with bullshit, they are running out of stuff to diss me)
