  1. Personally i wouldn't try to fix it. the record i fixed was a bargain bin find and a dime a dozen, so if i screwed it up there was no big loss.

If you say your black copy sounds fine I will just pick one of those up somewhere. I prefer to use the black vinyl as my playing copy as often as possible, but I got my blue Benji through a trade, and since it was already opened I just listened to it. Thanks for the feedback guys! If anyone happens across an extra copy of Rock n' Roll singer, I would gladly accept help finding one!

  2. My black copy doesn't have this problem.

Is it on one side only or all sides?

It certainly is on both sides of the first record, I may have not been paying as close of attention with the second record. Pray for Newtown is the song that shows it the worst because it's so easy to hear the notes on his guitar go up & down within the same note almost like he's doing string bends the entire time...

  3. Does anyone else notice significant groove travel when listening to any of the colored variations of Benji? I've noticed my turntable arm traveling back & forth when playing my blue copy. It gets worse as it gets closer to the center, and on songs like Pray for Newtown it makes his guitar sound out of tune (pitch goes up, pitch goes down). It's not my turntable, because every other record plays just fine.

  4. Well, I'm glad I subscribed to this thread and filled my Inbox up with meaningless emails... So when the ONLY meaningful one comes down the pike, I'm asleep.

Seriously... Who posts a fuckin' PO at 1 AM in the morning so it will sell out by 5 AM?? A few of us actually have to WORK for a living....

Kudos to those who got 'em tho.

Seriously... Rock n Roll singer was the one release I really wanted after years of it not ever being on vinyl, and as soon as I go to sleep... I get fucked. Such bullshit...

  5. that makes sense. now that i think about it most of the stuff they have sold before biko was an exclusive color or even exclusive to them as well wasn't it?

With every release he sells direct from Caldo, there is always a color variant that is "exclusive to Caldo Verde" or the cd is "limited edition" whatever that means anymore. Or we get lucky enough that he sells us the left overs of some special run of like 50 "Tour Only" color variants that didn't sells on the road lol

  6. I wonder why someone like Mark, who's always spoken of in such positive light in the record collecting community - Saint like, really, with not a morsel of negativity - and has been nothing short of totally accommodating to his devoted fan base, would do something to make it harder for those fans to buy his music?

    Such a puzzle...

I think it's the same reason he rarely plays any RHP songs live anymore. The older he gets, the less he wants to be known for something he did 20+ years ago. He wants people to be into what he is doing now, not back then. Even if I really can't stand most of his newer output, I can't blame the guy for wanting to still be a "current" artist and not a jukebox playing greatest hits albums constantly just to pay his bills...

  7. I needed money for car repairs, which turned into me needing money for a down payment for a new vehicle. So I sold two copies of Red House Painter's "Old Ramon". I also let go of my "Rollercoaster" & "Ocean Beach. The biggest kicker was selling my still sealed & autographed "Ghost of the Great Highway" Sun Kil Moon. I could kick my own ass for it to this day...
