  2. i do quite a lot of buying and selling on ebay. i calculate the shipping rate according to weight and add 10% to cover ebay and paypal fees. which tends to make my auctions quite cheap for post. i dont charge for packaging, coz i buy so many goddamn records that i always have loads of mailers lying around the place!

i've toyed with the idea of having a buy it now of like $1 and adding a large postal charge so ebay doesnt take all the fee money off me, but i know a lot of people hate that shit. i do too. it doesnt keep to the 'karma' of ebay. although with all the shop selllers on there now, i think that 'karma' has long gone. used to be you could pick up bargains, but they are few and far between now.

i wanna keep my 100% rating too...

  3. London is brilliant for vinyl. there are some really excellent shops in Central London. fact is though, i just dont like the british sound. i'm much more into american music. most of the stuff i'm interested are from US labels like temporary residence, robotic, and hydrahead. saying that though, except for the really hard to get stuff, most of anything is available in shops here. conspiracy records in belguim do some well cool releases and a little label called eyesofsound (eyesofsound.com) are getting some really interested acts.

  4. jesu posted a new track on their myspace from pale sketches. not really feeling it yet but im sure itll grow on me.

it doesnt seem like many people still dig on jesu like they used to but im still fully on board with this band and in fact, im way more excited about their newer material (ie conqueror, eluvium split, sundown/sunrise) than i ever was about the first record.

    i'm with you there man!

cannot wait for these 2 releases. lifeline should be coming on vinyl soon too, through hydrahead

  5. I'm on a Mac too. I run from the headphone jack on my tuner to the computer with an iMic. Then I use Final Vinyl, which is a lot like Audacity.

    Sounds great.

And to the dude with the Turntable without a usb, you don't need that.

this is exactly what i do too. excellent reproduction quality.

i know this thread is way old, but just thought i'd put my 2 cents in

  6. mono - gone (triple coloured)

nine inch nails - year zero

metallica - master of puppets (double 45RPM version)

if these trees could talk - st (clear w/yellow haze)

    sleeping people - growing (coloured)

pelican - split w/mono & pink mammoth (pink with 3 colours - absolutely godawful colouring!! :-))

    chicken legs weaver - wishbone

got more in the post. went overboard this month due to unanticipated ebay earnings...

  7. its old and not on colored vinyl. but fuck it, has brilliant packaging.

bob marley and the wailers - catch a fire

    stolen from ebay^^

    thats well nice!

i like the sunn0))) boris 'altar' box that daymare released. the new mono 'gone' is a lovely package as is Frances the Mute. shellac always put out knarley packages but i guess my favourite would have to be aenima by tool.

its my fave because of the awesome gatefold artwork, the pentagramic inner labels and the fact that i have ticket stub no. 0001

from the corresponding australian tour, brisbane show, inside. slept overnight to get that bast'd!!

  8. haven't got a lot but:

dysrhythmia - barriers and passages (test pressing ltd to 5)

thats a pretty awesome test to have, man. is the normal press still available anywhere?

the regular release hasn't come out yet. soon, the label tells me. its a limited colour press too! go to eyesofsound.com and do a pre-order. tell them justin sent ya! ;D

  9. im considering breaking up my isis collection to buy this

if you feel so inclined make some offers on these

    Isis Celestial Escape Artist Records 2xLP Yellow/Orange & Red/Brown

Isis In the Absence of Truth Robotic Empire 2xLP Violet

Isis Mosquito Control Escape Artist Records Blue

Isis Oceanic Escape Artist Records 2xLP/Orange

Isis Panopticon Robotic Empire 2xLP Black First Press

    Isis sgnl>05 Tortuga Recordings White

Isis The Red Sea Second Nature Recordings Gray/Red Split

Isis + Aerogramme In the Fishtank 14 Konkurrent Blue

the box set wont contain the fishtank split will it? you miight want to hang onto that.

  10. i've never had a problem ordering from robotic empire. once, they sent me the wrong cd, but after contacting them, they sent me the correct one along with two free ones. also, with my last order, they sent me a free torche cd.

it's weird that they haven't gotten back to you. i know that they've been quite busy lately though.

they're probably gearing up for that ISIS box spectacular coming out soon!

i might call em and see whether the phone is the better bet for ordering (shrug shoulders)

  11. i love the coloured vinyl but, and this might be just me, i find very little difference between colour variations - i do find a lot of difference between the actual labels that are pressing them. for instance, i rarely get any dodgy sounding vinyl from temporary residence however hydrahead are iffy. and every single swami vinyl release i've bought sound pretty terrible, colour or otherwise. the major labels bite - epic, columbia, warner all have horrendous inner groove distortion (i dont have the bucks for a mega expensive deck but the one i have is widely regarded as one of the best in its price range).

the southern lord pressing of altar pales in comparison, sound-wise, to the japanese daymare release. every daymare release i have sounds incredible.

so, for my limited knowledge and experience, i would be more inclined to think the pressing and production process are the major factors when talking about sound quality.

  12. i got into them real late, hence my faves are absence and panopticon. i dont really get into growly vocals, but the music on celestial is fantastic. the earlier stuff is crushing and good for a bad mood! :-)

the aereogramme split is tremendous as is one of their earliest EPs, Sawblade. love that shit!
