  1. If there were two identical copies of an album for sale, one was 25 bucks and had a couple of corner dings and the other was 28 bucks and the sleeve was mint, which would you go for. If its the second one, then you care about corner dings enough to pay a little bit more. And it will be the definition of irony when it turns up with a corner ding anyway, due to being shipped in a shitty mailer.

Me? I would probably have bought the ding free one.

  2. Received my copy of the clear variant yesterday.

In the email I received from them, they promised a free gift for the inconvenience (!) of not getting a black vinyl copy, and inside the package was a 'Best of Dream Catalogue 2814-2815' CD. Nice bonus!

Win/Win as far as I am concerned.

I read somewhere that the wishes of a repress of the first album has been acknowledged, I understand it is because they had a fall out with the distributor / manufacturer so a new master will need to be created. I'm sure it will happen some time in the future though.

  3. For glossy sleeves I use plastic polish called Novus #1 - I used to use it a lot when I bought LaserDiscs back in the 90's - I used it on the discs themselves but then found out that it leaves the sleeves looking fantastic when applied sparingly and polished off with a soft rag. I always struggled to find it in the UK and had to import it from the US.

I know some people use furniture polishes and and such like but for me, I thought they tended to leave a waxy residue, where Novus is anti fogging and anti static too.

Non glossy or rough coated sleeves are more difficult - the only thing I have ever found that worked for me was a really gentle rub with a white pencil eraser to remove some marks.

  4. ....and possibly duties and taxes in the future for those of us in the UK who order our vinyl from Europe....? As we will no longer be part of the EU where goods are in free circulation? I'm not sure how it all works.

  5. I got the crash email too...

  6. Think lurkers grabbed them as they went pretty instantly. I went to order one for the brother about 30 minutes later but they had all gone!

I didn't even order one for myself - have all the originals so no need. Regret it a bit now as that Rarities LP might have been nice to have.

Be quick, there are some available on eBay from All Your Music at £25.65. They have recently increased the price on Amazon so I dont think these will last for long before they bump the price back up.

    Cheers

  7. Thanks for the discount codes too. No matter what I did, I couldnt get an order for the UK to go through - kept saying there was a problem with my payment card. Tried three different Visa cards - had to give up in the end. Shame. Had 150 bucks worth of LP's I wanted, the discount code would have helped soften the shipping costs.
