Offer media mail.  Have us click a checkbox that we acknowledge it could be damaged in transit and not eligible for a refund.

That would solve it right there, but then they can't have a reason to charge as much. I feel really bad for everyone trying to get all the variants because that shipping is nasty especially when you need it like 5+ times. I wish you all luck, I am happy I'm sticking with Amazon.

Agreed.  Not to mention media mail comes with a tracking number.  I have a large collection of records, many to most of which I've acquired by mail (not proud of this, it would be a lot cooler if many records I bought were available at local record shops, alas, that's not the case).  Majority of time I would guess, shipped via USPS media mail.  Every time I've had the option.  I've never had an issue.  Of course other than sleeve dings & such, due to poorly packed records, but that would be it.

Yeah I am the same, almost all of the records I purchase come from online and not in store record stores (I purchase from record stores a lot, but online). I enjoy going from time to time to check it out and see what I can impulse buy but a lot of time if I want a specific variant or special record they aren't stocked at my record store unfortunately. Other times they have it for 3x the price that I can get it online. Sometimes, its a 1/3 price too, so it comes all ways, but I still mostly buy online, most come in flawless condition.

Pretty sure the general retail variant is the black 180 gram.

I'd be surprised if they pressed a standard weight black vinyl and 180 gram black vinyl.

Yeah that is what i am thinking. If not, kind of bummed but also getting it for $20 shipped day of release on Amazon so I don't have much to complain about.

Also, I appreciate whoever is getting upset over Tom Hanks and the self titled album. What have they done to you??

  3. Preordered on Amazon its $20 with release date shipping. Sounds much better than that KRM situation that some of you are unfortunately dealing with, hope it all works out.

Also on a side note just picked up the SRC release for Take off Your Pants and Jacket on record mainly because my favorite Blink 182 song is on it (I am very mature, I can assure you but who doesn't want to sing every word to that beautiful song)

  4. I don't know this for sure but I'd assume they wouldn't make a black 180 gram for their webstore and also make a standard weight black vinyl for retail. If they made the black vinyl 180 gram then all of the black vinyl is most likely 180 gram. I'd guess Amazon and everyone else that has a pre-order up (excluding the band's webstore) has 180 gram black vinyl.

Also, there will most likely be a splatter variant as a HT exclusive. There will be a HT exclusive on this, just waiting to hear if they can do the splatter or not. Will let you guys know once I have more solid info.

Yeah that is what i was thinking. I thought it would be strange to have two black presses and only have 180g webstore exclusive. It could happen, but I don't expect it and only reason I even thought of it is because it was mentioned a few times on here.

  5. Venue presales and things like that I don't trust. I've always managed to get better seats through the general sale. I was just thinking that maybe they would actually offer up good seats for preordering the album.

I got burned so bad at Dead and Company and ended up losing $70 so I won't be too keen on presales in the future. When I don't want to throw my computer out the window though I do well with presales, that isn't too often.

And yeah reading through all this I am not impulse buying it on KMR because I am not about those shipping prices. I will just preorder on Amazon and forget about it

  6. Please let someone do the Katamari Damacy OST during this arms race...

I only saw the reply didn't see this so I was going back to see where a Katamari vinyl was mentioned and was about to search for it. Well my quest continues.... Between that and Sonic Adventure 2 Battle I would be content with video game soundtracks on vinyl for a while.

  7. I was at the mall the other day and there was an FYE going out of business sale so the records were 40% off which makes them closer to retail so I impulse bought a moe. record "Fatboy" stamped 3000 copies for $18. Not the smartest purchase I ever made ...............

  8. Pretty sure they were gone within a few seconds. I tried for the Jay Shaw print which was sold out the second it went up. I then tried the liquid filled records just out of curiosity & they were gone too. I'm really good at scoring shit no one wants when it comes to Mondo drops. 0 for 20 on anything remotely popular that isn't a record with 500+ copies pressed.

I know the feeling, that's why I don't even try. Past couple mondos I have gotten have been available for months and weren't gone instantly. Also got the first pressing of the Last of Us boxset but that's basically the best I have gotten. Also I work during the day not about trying to get that $250 record that will just get me mad when I don't get it.

  9. Yes - that's brutal.  $5 on an $11 record that's going between $40-70 on Ebay is not brutal.

I was half asleep when i bought it and then checked ebay and I was like oh. Yeah not too brutal haha bad word choice. Mainly paying 50% of the product price was kind of annoying but could be worse.

The $5 bugged me too considering I live about 20 minutes from that store.  Then I realized the bridge toll alone to get over there is $5, plus I'd have to pay for parking.  After that I didn't feel so bad about it.

Yeah, I just got a record today in the mail and saw the address was 5 minutes from my house and it said priority mail, and I don't remember how much i paid for shipping but if it was anything over $5 that would be annoying I could've just picked it up if they actually have a storefront

  10. The amount of record stores flipping the Gerard Way for $40+ is really pissing me off. Funny how when you check their actual site, they don't have it listed.

That is insane. i need to see this for myself, gotta love how honest people are. It is one thing if it is a scalper/civilian, but when a company is posting them online for either auction price on ebay or inflated prices on Discogs that is just scummy.

I did not even go to a record store this year because I was out of town but luckily found everything I could have possibly wanted online through multiple websites. If I could not get what I wanted and saw companies were withholding stock to sell for a extra buck I would not ve a very happy consumer.
