  1. I'm excited for this release.  Love the single, love the album art.  Walsh says it's going to be lyrically and musically darker than the first Lo Tom LP.
But... I never know about these kickstarter preorders...  even the CD would be $20 once factoring in shipping.  Gotta wonder if the vinyl will be available for sale for a bit cheaper on their merch page or bandcamp 6 months from now.   That's happened to me before.  I've also supported a few where they only made enough for those pledging so it's either buy an overpriced LP or miss out.

I know times are tough for a lot of artists right now... but $37 shipped is a lot for one LP.  Is it even gatefold?  But it looks like they are now less than $1,000 away from their $25,000 goal so what do I know?

The CD has appeal because it comes with bonus demo tracks... wish they'd do something similar for the vinyl.

  2. I am looking for a little project to keep me busy next summer... I've never pressed a record before, but I am seriously considering giving Polygondwanaland the same treatment Mount Eerie did to two of their records here:  https://pwelverumandsun.bandcamp.com/album/clear-moon-ocean-roar-condensed-versions-7   (all tracks overlapping and playing at once)  I chuckled at this when I saw it up for sale as a 7" in their store and had to get it.

My eyes really started to glaze over at these virtually unlimited variants of the same album!

But I loved what PIAPTK Records decided to do with the lathe-cut audio snippets though.

That's what I find most exciting about a talented band gifting the rights to a good record to everyone:  what can be done to it beyond just making a verbatim copy?

    Any other ideas?

    Anyone get a copy yet?

My copy arrived Tuesday, but I've only given it two plays.  I absolutely love anything by Neko Case and Laura Veirs, so this record is naturally candy to my ears.  Opening song and closing one are my two favorite tracks as of now.

Anyone see Anti Records posted an orange variant of the record on their Twitter account?  No idea where to get one.  I'm happy enough with my blue, but here it is in case anyone is interested in pursuing further:

  4. Ugh, mine was canceled, from Bull Moose too.  Gonna see if the closest record shop to me would happen to have a copy tomorrow, since I'll be out that way.

If they indeed press more, why not do it on a creamy light tan (that's the background color on the cover)?  Perhaps opaque.  They've done every other color on the cover so far.  That would complete it.

To follow up on some pressing # info, a UK retailer on eBay is/was selling 10 copies of a "limited" black version, and Rough Trade's listing notes that it's limited to 2000 in the UK. Guessing theirs is black too since it doesn't specify color.

Yellow at the pop-up shop sounds realistic.

Rough Trade's Twitter link to the UK version indicates it's a 12".  Typo?  Or limited?

  6. I went ahead and picked up the blue from Bull Moose.

One store (The Glass Onion in AL) claims that the blue vinyl will be available only at stores that participated in Record Store Day.  Makes sense.  So "retail," yes, but more like "indie exclusive retail."  Bull Moose says:

Wonder how many are pressed on blue?  Would image a 3-4 thousand... but maybe not as many if they're also getting black?

I'll be keeping the following twitter search open until I fall asleep tonight, and again tomorrow, just in case yellow appears:

  7. I'm hoping to pick weezer up with $6 crate membership

Maybe I'm misreading you, but wouldn't it be easier just to join right now for a month and pay $27 for the Weezer LP than do the crate membership?  The LP would end up costing you $33 through crate ($27 for LP + $6 access fee), assuming you are in U.S., right?

Car Seat Headrest - Teens of Denial (VMP Exclusive, LTD to 750, Yellow Vinyl) $27

TOD looks like the only thing I'm picking up so far.

Debating whether to utilize the "swap" feature and trade away Pinkerton, as I already own a copy of the 1996 pressing.  Accumulating different variants really isn't my thing, but it does look nice.

I've been a member for 11 months now, the only swap choices I don't own yet would be Youth Lagoon or Torres or J Dilla. Hmmmm...

  8. I had a very bad customer service experience with them a very long time ago.

Interesting... I had a bad experience with BTV, too.  Ages ago, though!  Had I known it was a single dude, I probably wouldn't have gotten as steamed as I did.  But I had every right to be.  That said, the BTV releases I have are exquisite.  Well done in every regard.

Glad to see that Slow will be on both vinyl and CD this time, as I will not hesitate to get both.  Would instrumental versions on cassette from Flannelgraph again be too much to ask?
