  1. this reminds me of the old championship vinyl debacle with the r'n'r/suicide file split. my experience with rfc has to do with the agent record where they almost didn't have their records the day of their record release. eventually a box of covered test presses with marker blacking out the united labels came but still... pretty weird. my pre-order took months to arrive but it eventually did at least. my main beef with some people putting out records is announcing things before anything is even in motion. i know that pre-orders help pay for things sometimes and i get that. but when you haven't even submitted an order to a plant all it does is lengthen the time people have to wait for their records while they sit fuming. we all know how slowly some plants work and how unpredictable they can be, so it just seems like a bad idea to rely on them for the time table of your release. i think this is a common error that should be considered more. anywho
  2. does anyone know where i can order the blood, sweat and no tears repress in the states? i wanna up the quality from my 15 year old cassette!
  3. Ha no that was up for at least a year or so Thanks to the people picking these up btw, keep em coming
  4. I'm fully outta white! We sold out of the record release version of white in about 30 minutes and the rest of the white were sold by the band at shows since... wah woh! The speckled pink are starting to go because of request already so if you want one don't wait too long... Most definitely one of the top 5 Dag Nasty covers.. Tommy's "Bust!" on the break makes it so much sicker. I do miss the original ending though that was once hosted on their page - "Joeyyy issss Itaaaliiiaaaannn..... and he-likes-his-mother's.... meatbaalllssss!" CLASSIC CORRIGAN HUMOR
  5. while doing some cleaning this week i ended up sorting through some of my records. it seems that we're down to just over sixty copies of capital's blind faith seven inch. as we patiently await their follow up to homefront, i wanted to offer everyone something i stumbled upon. while flipping through those seven inches i noticed that i still have 25 copies on pink vinyl, and on closer inspection realized that some of them are closer to red with white speckles. so the variations in the releases section has been updated, but so has the buying options. you can grab yourself a copy on pink while supplies last! limited to 100. go to the releases section and click the button that says "pink." if you haven't gotten a copy at all, the red is down to 39... so you might want to grab that too. everything sucks has begun recording two new songs that'll be the follow up to their first lp, the taxes in texas. i believe mike dumps over at dead broke records might still have some copies on orange vinyl... though i'm not certain. i'd like to thank those out in europe who seem to be really loving this record. grab a copy of this record if you're into DC/90's LIHC because you won't be let down. www.justaaudial.net

  8. Everything Sucks just put out a record called "The Taxes in Texas." They recorded it in their basement. Don Fury mastered it in either a much nicer basement, a living room with a dartboard in it, or a converted pool house, or wherever the hell Don Fury masters things these days. They had a hell of a time getting it out, but it's finally here. They've been a band for a couple of years and although they took their name from a wonderful record by the Descendents, they really don't sound much like them. Also, despite their roots in and affinity for a certain type of hardcore music from Long Island, they don't really consider themselves part of any one scene. They feel they get enough labels and stamps put on them at their day jobs and in their day lives so they don't want to add another one. This outsider sort of approach and mentality has drawn comparisons to numerous revolution summer bands, some other bands who played at abc no rio in the early 90's, and some other bands who like using the word "post" before writing a type of music. They like a lot of bands, but at the end of the day they're on their own, sucking the cock of defeat. The record itself is a joint release between Just A Audial and Dead Broke Records. It has been pressed on 100 copies of clear orange vinyl, and 150 copies of black vinyl. It features nine songs with subject matter ranging from being a middle class white suburban weirdo to quitting your upper retail management position to bum around all summer selling old records to realizing you're on the dark side of twenty five without a thing to show for it. Oh wait. That's all the same subject. The secret fifth member of Everything Sucks posed for the insert photo of this record. The first fifty copies will feature his autograph. www.justaaudial.net www.deadbrokerecords.com www.everythingreallysucksman.com

  10. *DUDE JAPAN/WEED HOUNDS "SPLIT" 7 INCH PREORDERS I am ready to start taking preorders for the highly anticipated DUDE JAPAN/WEED HOUNDS"split" 7 inch. The test presses were approved and the finished records will be at my house and ready to ship within two weeks. I am learning my lesson from previous pre-order mistakes. Did you hear indie rock is cool again folks and let me tell these are two wayyyyyy cool bands. All kidding and bias aside, this is a really awesome record that I am glad is finally coming out. 15. definitely stoked on the review, everyone peep this record!
  16. Reviews: Tommy Corrigan does no wrong. Silent Majority was an amazing and completely underrated band. Blood Red was an outstanding and original sounding group. And his most recent music endeavor Capital is all of those in one. Capital's sound is fresh and nostalgic at the same time. Blind Faith is a 7” of the songs from a once-planned split with Crime in Stereo. Said split eventually fell by the wayside. The Crime in Stereo songs ended up on a b-sides collection while the Capital songs began to fade away until Iron Pier and Jus a Audial got a hold of them. “Out of Business” is a Long Island hardcore jam from start to finish. The music is fast and aggressive and yet it is also melodic. The bass tones on the song are awesome and had me thinking back to the mid-90's; like I said, Capital's music is nostalgic. “Blind Faith” is more of the same. The guitars are warm and have a definite Quicksand-inspired sound. The rhythm section is just as vibrant as the guitars. They are upbeat and energize the listener. The vocals and lyrics of Corrigan are earnest and deeply thought out; reading along, you can tell that every word is written with care and sung with the utmost meaning. For example on “Out of Business” he takes on the corporate music world: The market plan didn't call for an outcry / You didn't count on the kids growing up / You can only water it down for so long / Now the well has dried up. As a treat Capital takes on Dag Nasty's “I've Heard” and they do a spectacular job. Usually bands covering artists they are often compared ends up bad for everyone, but that's not the case here. I think I speak for everyone when I say that we're glad to finally have these songs. The initial delay and then the subsequent limbo of these songs are tragic. Even with the time delay these songs are worth the wait; they are pure bliss. Pick this 7” up now or you'll be missing out. http://www.scenepointblank.com As a fan of literally everything aspect of Tommy Corrigan (ex-Silent Majority) has ever done I have a bit of a bone to pick with him and his cohorts in Capital. Both of the band’s previous records Homefront and Signal Corps, were powerful slabs of melodic hardcore fury, but they lacked a specific something special, an instantly mixtape worthy song that you could play your friends for obvious conversion to the faithful fan base. Apparently they were hiding those songs in a vault somewhere for a split with Crime in Stereo. A split that never came out. Now, after at least a year and a half since I first heard about that split these songs have finally seen the light of day, and Blind Faith surpasses any of my expectations. The three songs on this 7” kick off with “Out of Business,” a spiteful bit of throw back 80’s hardcore that brings to mind early Bad Religion covering Black Flag while preaching a parable about the self induced fall of the recording industry. The merry circle pit continues with the title track, one of the nicest punk songs I’ve ever heard to tackle the point of view of atheists who’re asked “how do you know there isn’t a god?” Equally thoughtful and raging, “Blind Faith” succeeds by musically paying homage to Dag Nasty while not resorting to over simplified personal attacks against Christians. The Dag Nasty-ness doesn’t stop there though, as the band closes things out with a simply brutal cover of the band’s song “I’ve Heard.” Some songs are so good they don’t need to be reworked much when they’re covered and “I’ve Heard” falls into that camp. Capital simply let the song stand on its own merits, with only a little splash of Long Island hardcore aggression added to show someone else is performing. Capital does more with two originals, a cover, and eight minutes than most other punk bands this year have with whole records. This 7” will set you back less than six dollars. Your turntable will thank you for your purchase. 7.5 out of 10 RIYL: Silent Majority, Black Flag, Bad Religion, Dag Nasty. http://mammothpress.com
  17. Now available is Capital's 'Blind Faith' 7", a record about religion, corporate greed, and personal politics. With honest and relatable lyrics and fast, driven music what more could you ask for? That's not even mentioning all the ex/current member lists you can make. Back in 2006 Capital released their debut on Iron Pier and dropped their sophomore on the mighty REV. This time around Iron Pier and Just A Audial have joined teams to bring these neglected and unheard songs to the world. The record comes on three varieties of limited color vinyl and includes a redeemable mp3 download. Currently available for mailorder through Interpunk, Very, RevHQ, Iron Pier, Just A Audial, and through other distributors soon. Available digitally at Amazon, iTunes, eMusic and other download sites. Distribution by RevDistribution and VeryDistro. Mailorder and full-record streaming at: http://www.ironpier.net and http://www.justaaudial.net Upcoming Capital dates with Sick of it All - 6/18 in Philadelphia and 6/20 in New York. Capital and Soul Control in Long Island 6/19.
