  1. I think it's basically a joke that very stupid people have fallen for. My guess is they had 150 more gatefold sleeves than need for the coloured vinyl, so just threw in black vinyl and listed it as "limited to 150" - and now they're sitting back and watching people on eBay lose their minds.

I just took delivery of my coloured gatefold pre-order. There's nothing stopping me going out and buying a regular copy, swapping the vinyl over and trying to make a killing on eBay. And because of this you can guarantee there's going to be more than the 150 of this "version" out there within the next few months. It just means you'll have a lot of people all over the world with non-gatefold coloured versions. I will probably just keep my coloured gatefold though, as it looks nice and is a decent record.

  2. Bad Religion "Into The Unknown" - 125 Euro's.

Bad Religion "Tested" 2 x LP - about £97 UK pounds (came with a copy of Suffer but didn't need that).

The Lillingtons "Shit Out of Luck" tour edition (out of 300) just today - more than I should have.

I'll probably be selling some records over the next few years to counter-balance the stupid prices I've paid on stuff that's high priority "want".

That said I got some good deals recently - Samiam "Astray" for £6 and Crimpshrine "Duct Tape Soup" for £1.99.

eBay is seriously random as fuck at times. If I could guarantee getting the maximum that The Lillingtons "Too Late Show" on red is listed as going for on Popsike, I'd definitely sell mine.

  3. Pulling his back catalog has to be devastating for the label's already shitty financial situation.

I wouldn't be worrying about Virgin Dickheadson. According to this article :

    http://www.practicalecommerce.com/articles/2506-Lessons-Learned-Virgil-Dickerson-with-Suburban-Home-Records

he grossed a million dollars in 2008, so I'm sure he's got a nice little stash of cash buried somewhere for his retirement.

  4. I have Clumsy on vinyl. I also have the You Are Freaking Me Out 7" box set. I am still after You Are Freaking Me Out on LP though, and would even consider trading the 7" box set for the LP. I just prefer LP's and will never play this box set as much as I love the album. The only SAMIAM LP I am actively avoiding owning is the last one, because it was a fucking disaster. I hope the new one's better.

  5. Hi everyone, I have uploaded the entire MAX AND THE MARGINALIZED album "Museum of Mistakes" to SoundCloud for streaming. I put this album out last spring but have had very little time to promote it. I put it out on vinyl only (or download from iTunes). I am finding it almost impossible to get people to listen to anything new nowadays, so if you could at least give it a spin I'd be grateful. The vinyl version has 12 tracks ("Lectures" and "Hounds" are via the free download code that comes with the LP only) and if you wish to buy it please check out the Newest Industry website.

FYI the band has been compared to everyone from THE LAWRENCE ARMS to TED LEO & THE PHARMACISTS. Singer / songwriter Max Bernstein also appeared in pop-punk band THE ACTUAL and currently plays guitar for pop superstar thingy KE$HA. Surely that alone makes you at least somewhat curious as to what this sounds like?

    :D

  6. How would you feel if someone ELSE owned VC? Just the board, not the label or whatver?

    Would you be:

1.) more excited to post here

2.) less excited to post here?

Var, you should take over Vinyl Collective, the entire thing. If it was moved away from Suburban Home completely, and in the hands of someone who doesn't fuck people over, such as No Idea, the releases would probably be way better and I'd probably join.

As for the forum, I actually find it super useful to find out about new vinyl releases I might be interested in, so look here every day. Unfortunately I harbour such a bitter hatred for "The Virge" stemming from way back to 2004 that I find myself only posting offensive, nasty stuff. It's like tourettes, I just can't help it.

If the back cloud of Dickheadson was gone, a new day would surely blossom and everyone would love each other and rainbows and kittens would appear in the sky.

  7. Are you fucking shitting me?

    You post this fucking YESTERDAY???

Motherfucker, take care of your fucking business and the people that put their fucking trust in you and clean up your fucking messes.

Oof, Virgin Dickheadson still fucking things up 7 years on? Join the club mate, the guy treated me like an absolute cunt back in 2003, shipping a bootleg of one of my releases to MY distributor in the UK then saying "out of my hands pal, nothing I can do, forget about it". Condescending, arrogant, egomaniacal twat.

I know it's "bad karma" to wish failure on people but this guy needs a serious fucking reality check. How fucked is the American / global economy right now? People losing their jobs left, right and centre; people becoming homeless... and it's worse over there with the 99 week unemployment thing... and he's posting shit about a "beer tour".

If this was No Idea it'd no doubt be the coolest thing ever, because Var does "wacky" well, pays labels on time and treats you with respect no matter how small fish you are. But "Virgil wacky" is hideous - almost more like a desperate cry for help; self harming in public for the new millennium. I have to say, it's really fucking sad. If I was in any way involved as a label with him at the moment, I'd be seriously thinking about getting the fuck out before the iceberg hits.

He may as well just go to the Deathwish Inc offices and take a shit on their welcome mat. That's how much of an insult this is to all the labels that have a problem with him right now.

  8. I put out a Black Cougar Shock Unit CDEP in 2003 with covers on it, including "King Tut" by the comedian Steve Martin. About 2 years after it came out, I had an email from Steve Martin's lawyer! I sat on it for a while, then sent him the proof of mechanical royalties I'd paid to the MCPS here in the UK when I got it pressed. It was hardly anything, like 50 UK pounds for 1,000 CD's or something. Anyway, this proved to me you should always do the right thing as you never know who is watching, has "Google Alerts" or whatever.

  9. I have all the ones they did so far (the grey at the end is post-record store day re-press, the first two - pink and "blood red" are the European pressing) :

As far as I can tell, the pressing info was all bullshit to get people to buy the thing. I emailed Epitaph Europe, they gave me totally different figures to what I had heard... first it was "500 copies", then it was "500 copies per colour", then it was 1,000 on black, blah blah blah... they're so full of shit. However, if anyone from Epitaph posts here and can actually verify the exact pressing info, I would be interested to hear it. Thanks!
