Saviours - Into Abaddon
Black Cobra - Feather and Stone

Nice pics, that packaging looks great.
-
Pretty cool list. I would take any of the other songs in the top ten over "Creep", though.

Monty Pittman, her lead guitarist (and her guitar instructor), is from my hometown: Longview, TX. He's a total metalhead; he played in a local band called Myra Mains for years, then moved out to LA to join Prong before hooking up with Madonna. The Pantera thing was probably his idea.
There you go. She probably had no idea what she was playing.

you put REIGN In BLOOD and SLayer on PAR with Britney Spears.
if u didn't like Reigh In Blood, just say it wasn't your cup of tea, but to say that their music is a joke and compare it to some recent pop star who can't sing for shit, and doesnt even write her own music and is strictly a singer is just blasphemy.
you also say that Tom Araya having fun talking shit about religion when He didnt even write the lyrics. Those are King's Lyrics. And Araya knows that those lyrics don't change his mind on his faith, and that he knows to keep his faith and his music seperate. Nothin will change that.
you said their music was fun and jokey and they took themselves seriously, which if you've ever met them, they really don't. They have fun and fart and do stupid shit to each other like everyone else.
if you don't like it, then just say you don't like it, but when you try to discredit them by saying stuff like tom araya making fun of religion even though he's catholic, or they take themselves too seriously, or even they are a fun and jokey kind of band, and god forbid say they have as much depth as britney spears, you're gonna get some backlash.. just sayin'
wow dude, are you IN slayer? you're taking that pretty defensively.
yes, i put them on par with britney spears in terms of musical DEPTH. not TALENT. meaning there's not much too them past intentionally borderline offensive lyrics, and minor variations on the same speed metal riff. sure, those dudes can play fucking fast, and they can shred with the best of them, and dave lombardo is an amazing drummer, but that doesn't mean that they ever deviate from the pattern or actually take musical or stylistic risks. just b/c the dudes in slayer fart doesn't mean they don't take their music way too seriously.
if that's blasphemy, then i'm a blasphemer, but i think it's mostly just stating the obvious.
Then why click on the thread?

i wonder how many people in this group are actually over the age of 30?
This thread probably draws them all. I'm 31.
-
$20 says not a single person in the crowd knew that was a pantera riff
-
-
anyone know the name of the label that put out a recent 7" of theirs?
Did Sound Pollution put it out?
-
That is such a great list, i'm pissed they're not coming to Denver on this tour. The last time I saw them it was all songs off the first 3 albums. It was cool, but I wasn't that familiar with the material.
-
I know its not exactly your guys kind of music but I thought you would appreciate this. Deep Purple Collection plus Rainbow which is ex deep purple.
Nice DP collection, i'm jealous.
-
I think it's 2 songs, "Flight of the Eagle" and "Bhimas' Theme"
-
Crestfallen - S/T 7" (the Denver band)
-
I can't wait to get this, but $27ppd is stupid
-
corrupted - paso inferior
Where did you score that?
EDIT: Found it on Vinyl Junkie and picked it up. Sweet.
-
Word Salad used to play an amazing cover of "Angel of Death" at their shows. I love that song.
-
Sorry to hear that, Ronnie. Job searches suck. Sounds like it may not be such a bad thing to get away from the new management, though.

Partaking in a couple of these tonight:
-
if the rules are it has to be on Fat or Epitaph, I'll go with Propagandhi "How To Clean".. or "Today's Empires.." if that made it into the '90s.
+ Swingin Utters "A Juvenile Product..."
-
I like xfedaykinx's "Your Hand in Mine", and Flicker's "Sleep" picks
Off the top of my head I would add Battle of Mice, "Salt Bridge"

I'm a member of the club. 31, wife, 2 kids (2yr daughter and 2mo son), 2 dogs, bald, and turning grey. Wouldn't trade it for anything. I have my friends that I party and go to shows with and friends that have kids and a more "domestic" lifestyle. Best of both worlds for me.
