  1. was watching NHL live today, and they had McLean and Millbury on, and both said basically that Cooke's hit was completely legal under the current rules and were citing examples of it happening forever. granted, i thought it was dirty too, but these guys both know more than me on the subject.

on the ovechkin incident though, he should have been gone a lot longer than that. if cooke made that hit after a history of knee on knee hits and running opponents from behind and generally being a little bitch with moves like firing a puck at an opponent after a whistle and shoving fans, people would be calling for his head, not defending him and blaming the NHL.

  2. thing is with cooke, it was dirty as hell and should have been suspended, but he could appeal and get it overturned in a blink of an eye. richards hit was identical and got nothing, so in light of that and the rulebook, they couldn't have suspended cooke.

puck daddy on yahoo has a good(bad?) list of 9 dirty/dangerous plays/hits ovie's done in the last few years. guy is out of control. and lets not forget, he brags about driving 180 miles an hour on the freeways around DC, having sex with random chicks before the games to calm him down, and shoved a female fan at the olympics and smashed her camera and a reporters camera.

  3. best thing about digital cameras though is the ability to see what you just shot right away and take thousands of pictures at once and chose the best, most interesting ones. probably some of my favorite ones were those bacteria mats inside a tunnel, and i couldn't believe they came out looking good.

also, i'm a complete amateur. main reason i started doing this was because i liked hiking so much, and this kinda came out of it from the interesting stuff i'd find.

  4. Jake Peavy winning the Cy Young moving to the AL from the NL, to one of the worst HR parks in baseball from the best? I would say there's absolutely no way in hell this happens. If so, good for him, even though he's a total hillbilly who likes Jason Mraz.

I'm done trying to make predictions. I just want every team to have a good time.

The quickest way to make baseball competitive again would be a hard salary cap. It really worked for hockey. The problem with baseball is that given what the salaries are now, and the fact that teams are still making plenty of money, the cap number would have to be so high that teams would still drastically under-spend. So I guess you'd have to also accompany it with a salary floor. On the other hand, you don't want to turn it into the NFL, where the players get RAPED by ownership.

The best way to run things would be a hard salary cap, like hockey, then allow revenue sharing with ALL players based on major league seniority or service time or something like that - so the best players would still make MORE - but you could put a ceiling on it - like how one player's salary can't be more than 20% of the NHL salary cap. They could still make their money that way, I guess. I dunno. Tough to get a cap now.

could just put one in regardless like the NHL did. remember how the isles were totally screwed with an overcap contract of Yashin?

  5. yeah after reading the blog, i have a hard time believe Tim and Eric were doing that. plus, David has been in the first two episodes of the new season, when he said towards the start of it he said he wasn't involved anymore. if noone has been returning his calls, it could be because they were on tour and have been busy.
