I personally feel like it is an insult to someone to send them a CDR of something. That rules when people are okay with it, but in the past when I did send out CDR's of vinyl/digital only releases most people send it right to the trash. If you want to do proper promo on stuff like that, I would suggest making actual promos for a couple hundred dollars. Just my thoughts. Like I said, I fully back the idea of people doing retail promo, I just don't think it makes a ton of sense with vinyl only stuff.

Adai should be up tonight/tomorrow. We don't like to do the pre-order thing, so once it goes up it is ready to ship! Tons of other legit mailorder places will have them soon too (Interpunk, Robotic, probably the Sheath) if anyone wants it. The record is great, and probably the best looking thing Cavity has done so far.

If you are doing a CD release and want it to be more than a mailorder thing you are crazy not to send out promos to retail. I run a distributor, and we have a shrinkage clause with labels mainly so we can have promos of all new CDs. Unfortunately it's hard for a label to allocate more than 30-60 promos for retail stores. If you are trying to do legit PR, and with any attempt at radio, promos can cost a label a SHIT load of money. I fully back the idea of sending promos to stores, you just gotta work to find the right places.

I also run a small label too, and doing more than 20 or so promos of vinyl is often near impossible. We just got a new record from the plant and can unfortunately only consider sending promos to a couple close friends and key press (Albert@Decibel, Scott@AP, Brian@Punknews). So for a new label who focuses on vinyl, there is not much of a solution to promo outside of digital.

If anyone cares, we just got the new ADAI LP in yesterday and it turned out freaking AWESOME! Will try and get some pics up on the interwebs soon. Rosetta/Restorations split LP goes into press this week too. NORTH vinyl SUPER soon as well, just need the new art. Trying to line up a bunch more for the fall too, but our other company takes up so much of out time.

I am sure that COS/Rosetta show will rule. I was supposed to go see them with ADAI and Caspian a couple weeks back in Philly, but had to bail at the last minute.

You guys should check out the packaging that dude from Nuclear War Now! does on his releases. Not a fan of a lot of the bands, but holy shit the packaging/layout on some of his releases are intense.

On the split we will be doing the digital thing. Will be on iTunes, eMusic and all those other fun places. No plans to do a CD version of it as of now. The LP will definitely come with a download code. Unless something weird prevents it, all vinyl on Cavity from now on will include either digital codes or a free CD.

Anyone heard the new Rosetta full-length? I fucking love it.

Yep, we here at Cavity Records have two new vinyl releases set for August. Both the Rosetta/Restorations split and NORTH What You Were are on track to begin production in the next two weeks.

The tracks for the split are so freaking good. I love how different both bands sound, which I think makes this a little different from most splits. Don't forget that Rosetta has a new record on Translation Loss this month, too. That record is SOOO good. Restorations have a 12-inch coming out on Paper and Plastic next month as well. Both bands are so good and we are VERY excited to be doing this one.

For anyone who has not checked out NORTH before, please do so! We put that CD out almost two years ago and still back it hard.

Hopefully some of you are looking forward to these!

Hey guys, for anyone who may have some interest, here is a few updates from Cavity Records HQ.

First up, we decided to suck it up and do a little mailorder on non-Cavity releases. Not a ton of stuff up now, but head over to www.cavityrecords.com and check out our store if you have some spare time. Going to keep it to records from friends labels and releases we personally love. For now, just added some records from Isis, Mars Volta, Sakes Alive!!, Hopesfall and others with more coming soon.

Also, for all those who have picked up the Giants - Old Stories vinyl, thanks! We have been blowing through the first press, so if you have been thinking about grabbing one you should do it before they run out. Anyone who asked about the limited "friends" version, those covers should be in very soon.

Next up, the ADAI - Felo De Se LP+CD is in press and should be done in a month or so. This record rules so much and we can't wait for more people to hear it. For now, head over to www.myspace.com/adai to check out the video for the new track, Graves and preview some of the new songs. It's amazing how just two dudes can sound so solid.

Within the next month we will have two new records going into press. The Rosetta/Restorations split is almost ready to send off. The Rosetta track is done (and fucking rules) and the Restorations track should be done next week. Artwork is almost done as well. New Rosetta full-length on Translation Loss soon and Restorations are working on a full-length for a well known label I don't think they have announced yet. Also working on new art for the NORTH - What You Were LP which we plan to have out in mid-summer. New NORTH record in the works too!

Once we crank these out we will start working one some of the many other records we want to do.

Not one mention of Group Sex yet? Lame.
