  1. Any VC members from Melbourne around?

Ive come to the stage where I need a new needle and was thinking of upgrading to the 2M red or shure.....im really not comfortable with changing it out myself. Anyone know of a good store that can help?

Tried google, was just seeking personal experience

These guys were good to me when I was starting out.  I bought a 2M red from there and I took my table down and they threw it on for nothing when I knew nothing about balancing a tonearm, setting the anti skate and all that.

  2. This is the new 2013 re-release.  I haven't seen any conversations where it's been determined if it's using the 20th anniversary remaster or using the ORG plates or whatever.  The 20th anniversary master wasn't made widely available on single LP (outside of a UK retailer exclusive, according to Discogs).  Maybe check the deadwax for some mastering engineer's initials, or any other markings in common with the 20th ann. remaster.  I only have a German original and early 2000's '320' however so someone else will have to jump in with comparison markings.

FYI, you can search Amazon by UPC

  3. Being in Australia, was lucky to get Botch (only one in the store) and Cave In (3-4 in the store), both being the coloured variants.

Also got Deftones, No Alternative (day after from a record fair), and JEW 7" and White Stripes on the way in the mail via a UK connection, though White Stripes ended up being available here anyway.  Missed out on Soundgarden, I'm thinking the EU pressings weren't ready in time as no one had it and haven't seen any black vinyl pics online yet.

  4. Don't a lot of people have problems with these pressings? I remember them selling cheap for a while and passing, thinking that's what I'd heard. Or am I misremembering?

I think I only listened to one of them, the picture disc maybe, and it had 2 second gaps between the tracks which broke up the segued track 1-2.  So this was pressed from a badly burned CD-R or something?  Hadn't ever gotten round to playing the others.  Wouldn't be surprised at the amount of small pressing outfits who create LP masters from redbook CD and are never actually given hi-res files by the label.

  5. Is the Bleed American single LP available somewhere for cheaper than $30? I'd love to have it, but the extras are unnecessary to me. I just want a cheap version.

<threadcrap>There seems to be a few EU reissues being done on the same day, maybe someone dug up a random selection of old pressing plates?

  6. 100 purple marble

    200 white

    200 clear

    ??? black

Based on not a lot apart from the fact I went through 3 or 4 copies of the purple marble (from the same distro) and still couldn't find one that wouldn't skip in the same spot on side 2, that number of 100 pressed is either too low, or there's now only 97/98 around due to the skipping ones being trashed as faulty.

Anyone else's copies on any colour having skipping issues on side 2?
