  1. My wife and I have seen him 12 times, talking to him everytime. He's a super genuine guy and an awesome musician. Best memory is prolly sharing a veggie platter at music in the park. Prolly 30 people there and it was just him and acoustic. Wait no, best memory is going to the first show when he opened for thrice an telling him we'd be on our honeymoon when he rolled into las Vegas so he wrote our names down and put us on the guest list. Stand up guy :)

I'm diggin this thread big time.

  2. I thought I did until my gf at the time moved Into her sisters basement. Her sister had recently moved in with her boyfriend who family owned the house. His uncle supposedly died in the house. The first clue was when we were unpacking her records. Only have a few at the time we placed them flat on top of eachother. We moved on to other boxes and when I looked back 2 of them were standing propped up against eachother. It would take a little effort to do that and I know that neither of is did it. The cliche thing is after she looked they fell over. Kinda weird. The second clue was when I was about go ring her doorbell one night I heard her niece and nephew running around the house. When I asked where they were she said they haven't been there In a few days. Odd. My gf said she had furniture move on her and we thought we saw a person in the house when we were in the backyard. It was a lot of nothing we could prove. Her niece wouldn't sleep with the lampshade on because she said she saw a hand come out of it. Everyone had experiences and they moved out after 9 months. I believe for sure. I juts had too many experiences to write them off.

I suggest smudging the house (burning sage) or having something blessed placed near the doorways. I'm not religious but that's what I've been told to try. Good luck. Animals are more intuitive than we are.

  3. I have donated this year and will continue too. I encourage everyone to give a little if they can.

Yeah, everyone should give a little if they can, but you're currently in the position to give a lot (assuming, based on what you're calling "a lot"), and that could make a whole lot of people feel good over the Christmas period.

I think you should make a list of everything else you could put that money towards, and at the end of that exercise, make your decision. Is your purchase going to make you happier than doing everything else you can imagine?

thats a good ill try that. but would answer be different if the month was different? i dont want you to think im attacking you because im not, but yes these are the months to give to those less fortunate, but what about the other 10 months out of the year? right now some soup kitchens are full staffed and are actually turning away volunteers. clothing/food/toy drives are also doing there best right now, so well that they are saving toys for the rest of the year.

a large expense may seem selfish but i would rather give a little at all times than a lot at one time.

i am going to do your excercise because i agree that it will focus my mind on whats in front of me, but the rarity of this item and the opportunity is one that does not come up everyday.

that being said, i hope everyone can do someting this season to help someone in need. just remember, their need is all year, not just november december. happy holidays to everyone

  4. If I was gonna take things personally I wouldn't ask for everyones honest opinion. I somewhat agree with you, test presses are kinda silly, especially these days when there's 25 of them. But saves the day means an awful lot to me, this record in particular, those three songs were the first songs I learned on guitar, since then I've played them at a few friends weddings. I've talked with Chris a few times and he's a super genuine guy. And the part that justifies it the most in my mind is that I'm buying it off pat at immigrant sun. So the money is going to the label that took a chance on them and not some guy that bought it for 10 bucks 13 years ago.

I think I'm going to buy it. After reading the above I don't see much choice in the matter lol. Thanks for helping me out guys.

  5. So I'm looking to justify a very large purchase in the next week and I figure what better place to get an unbiased (haha) opinion than this board. I have the chance to drop a pretty large amount of money on a saves the day I'm sorry I'm leaving test press /10 a record that I've wanted for years. In my mind I justify it as a once or twice in a lifetime opportunity but at the same time it would be spreading my funds pretty thin right before Xmas. What should I do? I've honestly changed my mind everyday on this and am looking for opinions. lemme know what you'd do and insult me at the same time ;)
