  1. I would think that most pressing plants would be willing to do 1 copy. Because they are still going to get hundreds of dollars from you for very little effort on their part.

Unless you are hellbent on getting 1 pressed copy you should just get a lathe cut as others have said. Tangible formats has an option for just 1 at $20. http://www.tangibleformats.com/7.html

And for small runs of lathe cuts in general best options are:

    lathecuts.com

    corporate records

    Peter King

  2. I do lathe cuts (www.lathecuts.com). They aren't cheap (especially for LPs) because I charge by the minute. That is the biggest cost of making the records... time... and an LP takes an hour to cut and set up.

SO, I'm really much better if you want to do singles, but I will do LPs if you want to pay for them.

Check out the site for pricing, options, etc. I will be updating it in the next week with some sound samples and other options, but the majority of the info is on there now. They aren't audiophile by any stretch, mostly just decent sounding novelties for people who want to make musical art pieces and can't sell 100+ records.

I've used him, he probably has the best lathe cut quality I've heard.

Otherwise if you can bite the bullet and go for 100 I would use musicol or palamino.

But if you really just want 50 or less there are places who will do it (palamino) it's just not cost effective. But 100 isn't really cost effective either. But lots of people still do it, no point in doing 300 if you can't sell them.

  3. Hey soulcrusher or whatever name you are going by now:

Take my advice man. Don't take shit so personally on message boards. Either ignore the people who bug you or just laugh it off and get into insulting them back. Either road will give you a much happier life.

If you're going to get so upset or your feelings hurt on a message board then it's just not for you.

Also here is every White Zombie/Rob Zombie song:

Blop blip blop bla bla bla bla bla...Yeah...Yeah....Yeaaaaaahhhh.../horror movie sample/...yeah...yeaaaahhhhhhh

    The end.

  4. Truth! Folks who limit themselves only to LP's are missing out on a helluva lot! The 'label' I'm starting up is going to be devoted entirely to 45's (that's right, I'm taking it a step farther and requiring adapters to be on hand!), so obviously I love the smaller format.
I've never understood the large hole. Just makes a format that's already kind of a pain in the ass a little more annoying by adding another unneeded step.

I dunno, maybe I'm just pissed because I lost my turntables built in adaptor. Whats the benefit in it?

Rochambo beat me to it, but yeah that's why it started.

As to why it continues today.. I can't really think of a good reason. It's just a style choice at this point, or nostalgia. Fodder for endless small hole/large hole jokes.

Sure it's annoying if you have lost your adaptor, but as others have said they are cheap as dirt anyway.

  5. 7"s are the shit. Always been my favorite. So many albums have a lot of filler on them. The 7" is the perfect way to get out 3 or 4 songs. They are also perfect for people like me who have fairly low attention spans.

On the price, well I think $5 to $7 is reasonable. I mean a pack of smokes costs $4 to $8 now.

If the packaging is nice maybe more. People who are putting a lot of time into silk screening the covers or something deserve more $ for their product.

  6. I got all the original LPs and a bunch of assorted bootleg 7"s. I don't bother with trying to mess around with the original 7"s, too rich for my blood. Never had any time for the nu-fits, don't care for that stuff at all.

I'm kind of amazed there hasn't been a 7" collection release, does Danzig not like money?

I've got Initium and November Coming Fire both in rough shape but playable. Had the maroon cover Unholy Passion for years but it was stolen.

I really want to get the 1st three Danzig albums at some point, though I hear they are getting pricey.

Did anybody ever end up pressing Black Aria I? I've got it on tape, but ya know it'd be nice to have it as a record.

  7. It's the last viable physical form of music.

If you don't want to live in a download/mp3 world, vinyl is all that's left.

There are still CDs and they will be around awhile longer for bands who can't afford to do anything else, but they've been dying for a long time.

    So what's left? Records.

Also as others have already said, it's more interactive, bigger nicer packaging, etc..
