  1. Is he referring to pressing of all the Incubus records? Because the boxset only has four? Unless he is counting each record as 2 (per side)?

No, Incubus albums are being released by Sony on Black Friday this year.

What the HQ Live Boxset has is the audio from all 6 nights the band played during the HQ Live week pressed on 180 gram vinyl. This includes nights where they performed the Make Yourself, Morning View, and If Not Now When albums in their entirety from start to finish (something they had never done in their career) as well as other nights where they played songs that are considered rarities (Pantomime, Monuments & Melodies, Look Alive, Punch Drunk) and other songs.

Rennie said 8 pieces of vinyl, so that should mean 8 lp's altogether. There was no way they were going to be able to cram 6 nights of music on 4 records.

  2. A number of Incubus fans got the Morning View vinyl signed by both Brandon Boyd and Mike Einziger for FREE years ago sent to the mail by their management. They were cleaning out their offices, then Steve Rennie (the band's manager) posted on the Incubus Online forum and put up a list of everything they had available to send out for free. All you had to do is send them a self addressed envelope (or box) and a ton of stamps with a list of what you wanted in order of preference. Not only did I get a signed Morning View record, but I also got multiple cd's of all sorts signed by the band as well as posters and what not.

Honestly, there is no better manager when it comes to fan relations in the music industry than Steve Rennie. If you're a diehard Incubus fan, you get your money's worth, that's for damn sure.

  3. Isn't it ironic how shady Doghouse is acting with this release yet the one company involved with the worst reputation (Shop Radio Cast) actually shipped the best pressing (180 gram) on time to most people?

As I said earlier in this thread...

180 gram black > flimsy standard weight on flashy colors

I mean, this is of course if it's sound quality that matters the most to you.

  4. got my confirmation for shipping today as well. also ordered the 180g

I'm surprised the 180 gram did not sell out immediately compared to the green Doghouse pressing. I'm not a veteran here so excuse me for this question, but is shopradiocast's reputation really that bad to where they're offering the best pressing of this album and can't manage to outsell the lesser quality versions of it?

  5. who the fuck's business is it what anyone does with their vinyl?
No one's but Framing Vinyl is fucking idiotic. Plain and simple. Go buy a limited Screen print of a gig poster from the band and have it framed. Leave the vinyl to people who will actually listen to it and enjoy it and bask in it's warmth of soundwaves.

I would frame it only if you get it autographed. I have Incubus' "Morning View" autographed by Brandon Boyd and Mike Einziger. I also got Minus The Bear's "Acoustics" autographed by the entire band. Even then, they're still sitting alongside the rest of my records.

Anyways, what's the word on the 180 gram Is A Real Boy, has shopradiocast shipped them out?

  6. For anyone who is a fan of Incubus, some of you may know that their bass player Ben Kenney has put out 4 solo records as well as records in his previous bands The Division Group and Supergrub. I asked him about release vinyl on his facebook page and he was kind enough to respond...

Hey Ben, what can we do to get the ball rolling on getting some of your solo records or even Supergrub/Division Group pressed on vinyl? Would a kickstarter do the trick? I think a number of small labels may also be interested in footing the bill to do it. The ones I want the most are "Maduro" and "Challenger"!
Hi Chris. I love the idea of getting some of the older stuff on vinyl. A few people have asked about it over the years but there's never been quite enough interest to commit to pressing it up. The record plants I know of all have minimum orders of at least 300 and I can't imagine selling more than 50-100 copies of any of my solo albums in a novelty format like vinyl. It may seem like pessimism on my part but I have a garage full of unsold "Maduro" CDs providing a very compelling argument to avoid hard copies in the future. I am keeping my mind open about it though. Maybe in the future there will be more interest in my solo music and then it would be the right thing to do.

    Thanks for writing,

    -Ben

  9. I swear, every time Travis posts one of these lists for virtually any release, there are always copies left in motherfucking San Juan, Puerto Rico. ALWAYS. And yet the Hot Topic closest to me (Great Northern Mall in North Olmsted) hasn't gotten any new vinyl in for months, maybe even a year. UGH.

Bahahaha, I'm actually from San Juan, Puerto Rico. Everytime I fly out to visit my family, I always make a stop at the Hot Topic over there. They probably still have like 5 copies of Thrice's Beggars in stock.
