  1. I just got back into comics. Hadn't read them since I was a kid. Right now I'm pretty obsessed with Star Wars stuff. The Star Wars: Republic/Dark Times series in particular, but I found a gnarly near complete chronological torrent of just about everything, so I'm reading bits and pieces of others as I go.

I got a trade of the first volume of Sandman that I've almost finished. I need to buy the next one. I've been reading X-Men Legacy a bit, too. I read Batman: Year One and have The Long Halloween and Hush downloaded. Need to start those soon. Oh, and what got me started on this comic kick was The Walking Dead comics. I'm caught up on those and now it's killing me reading month to month.

  2. almost named my first Ender, but wussed out. grew one ball and named the second Ellis Bean.

Thats awesome, never thought of using Bean. his nickname is Rooter, though it didnt come from Speaker, though we are glad it fits. If we had a daughter her name was going to be Valentine.

Haha, such great names. Love those books. My friend named his son Ethan Parker Rich. Parker as in Peter Parker (Spiderman). I thought that was pretty hilarious.

I work at CVS. It's a shitty company and I don't get very many hours a week. I don't make enough money to buy as many records as I used to...

  3. I didn't mind the BSG ending, really. What bothered me is that Season 4 had so many just huge info dump episodes. It would have been cool if they had a better arc to stretch over that season and one more season instead of dropping so much shit all at once.

But I digress, I think AHS will probably go with the whole new story with a different family, different house, etc. I really hope they work something cool out, because this show is one of my favorites. If the next season sucks I'll be so disappointed.

  4. I need to read up on the politics and sociological background of Indonesia, because I'm just wondering what brought this on all of a sudden. There's obviously a punk/alternative music scene there and probably has been for a while. Some guy on Punknews posted a video of a kid singing "The Brews" by NOFX on Indonesian Idol. It's popular enough for that to happen, so why would they get all crazy about it now?

  5. A couple months ago Green Day played a secret show to about 100 people at 1234 Go! Records in Oakland. I would have killed to see that if I'd known about it.

I probably wouldn't pay to see them at the arena shows they normally do these days. I'm okay with never seeing them again since I got to see them at Warped Tour 2000, right before Warning, yet I don't remember them playing one song from it. They played for like an hour or longer because they were the last band. Lit the drumset on fire, brought a dude on stage from the crowd to play guitar for the Operation Ivy cover, etc. Great show.

  6. But seriously, I thought it'd be funny to post something that is a decidedly lame point in the man's career by way of tribute.

But since, understandably, few people here are really familiar with why he was awesome, let me sum it up in one of his best moments on M*A*S*H :

Also, it's pretty interesting how a TV show, ostensibly about the Korean war (but really about Viet Nam), can remain relevant 25+ years later. Guess it's probably because it's mostly the same old shit.

M*A*S*H was so good. When I moved for college I spent a lot of time in my room with no cable. The only channel that came in clearly played like 2 hours of the re-runs every night and I ended up getting really into it. Definitely still relevant today.
