  1. Maybe youll have better luck making a WTB thread in the sales forum. I got mine from another VC user, cant remember the price though.

Hmm, I might try that. Thanks! It's just odd that AM! has kept so much of their other stuff in print all this time, except for that one release. And it doesn't even seem to pop up on eBay/Discogs very often either.

$20 for something that is hard to find sounds like a good deal to me, then again I like the Melvins and the stuf Third Man puts out.

True. I'm just trying to save money right now, so I couldn't really justify $20 for a 4-song EP.

I recommend you don't collect Brand New

Haha, yeah, that shit is bonkers. Won't be collecting that shit anytime soon.

  2. Just got this in my email. Long story short, they'll be selling more copies of the album, unsigned, starting this Thursday at 3pm EST.

ADDING THREE NEW ITEMS (COUNT EM)

Thanks for the overwhelming response to the new Ben Folds Five music. We’ve been listening to your suggestions and on Thursday, May 24th at 3PM EST we will add the following items:

    1. Vinyl version of the new Ben Folds Five album (unsigned)

    2. Very limited edition handwritten and signed lyrics for three tracks from the new album: “Do It Anyway” (that’s the song you download free on PledgeMusic.com) “Sky High” (that’s the song you hear in the background on the promotional video on PledgeMusic.com) “Draw A Crowd” (you haven’t even heard this one yet!) The lyrics will be handwritten on high quality paper stock and signed, matted and framed with a COA. There will only be 30 of these, 10 each of the 3 songs and they will be numbered. Ben, Robert and Darren will put on ruby red lipstick and seal each one with a kiss. That’s disturbing but true.

    3. Immortalize your name, or someone’s you know, in “Do It Anyway”. This will be limited to 20.

If you’ll send a name to be placed into the recording of “Do It Anyway” (with a few details to be mentioned in the lyric, TELL US WHAT THIS PERSON SHOULD DO ANYWAY), we will replace the last verse of the song with your own personalized verse. The verse will be dropped into the original recording, mixed the same way as the record and mastered to fit seamlessly with the rest of the album. It will be your very own truly unique version of “Do It Anyway”. We will deliver this to you digitally and you can place it into your version of the album. Surprise your girlfriend, boyfriend, child, dog, teacher, boss. We will guarantee that we fit your name in (if the name is unusual please spell phonetically). We will do our best to fit your details given the constraints of melody with no guarantees. Just give us the name and some extra details and we’ll work it out!

It’s risky but we’re going to Do It Anyway.

These items were carefully decided upon after monitoring your comments on PledgeMusic.com, Twitter and Facebook. There will be more when we’re certain we have something special of value to add to the experience of the album. Those who have pledged will have some opportunities to view the process as we finish our album in June.

    Stay tuned.

  3. I also think the engineering aspect of it is fascinating. The way they are made, the way the the needle reacts with the grooves to make the sound. I find it really cool how something as basic as a needle vribrating with grooves can create such amazing sounds

    Also, this!

  4. Echoing what others have said, I like the active nature of listening to records. Since I've started collecting, I've found myself sitting and reading liner notes and admiring the artwork as I listen to the music, something I haven't really done since high school.

And there's the collectible nature of it all. I've had a lot of fun rummaging through record stores for old gems, tracking down rare albums online, and trying to get in on preorders for albums I consider to be classics. It's more fun (and again, active) than just going to Best Buy and buying a CD or downloading something off iTunes.

Bottom line: It's a hobby, and it's one that I enjoy. Someone else wants to piss on that to make themselves feel better, let them. It's not detracting from my enjoyment one bit.

  5. I think the ideal approach would be a limit of one per customer for the first 24 hours and then it's a free-for-all after that. It'd give fans a fair chance at getting a copy before the flippers start placing 20-copy orders. Whatever the case, I don't see this going as fast as Thrice did, but maybe I'm wrong on that.

This thing looks beautiful and I can't wait to get it. Travis, you're kicking some serious ass on these releases, and I thank you. My wallet, however, hates you.

  6. Anybody else order the random color direct from the band's website and still not receive it yet? I contacted them about it a week or so ago and received no response. Just sent another email asking about it.

Edit: Turns out it was my bad. I must have closed the tab before completing the order on PayPal or something. Was able to re-order the random and received it like 3 days later.

  7. Remember when this band kicked out their drummer because he came out of the closet and they were worried it would ruin their major-label record deal?

    Yeah, no thanks.

Ha, I totally threw that in as a question in some chat thread (probably on AP.net) they were having with the lead singer and he got all pissy about it and denied it went down that way.

The dude they kicked out (Garrett, I think) came into my video store one time and asked if we were hiring. Nice guy. He mentioned he was in a band (The Divorce at the time), so I warned him that the owner wasn't big on hiring musicians.

Kinda pissed I enjoyed this album when it first came out. Oh well. I wouldn't buy it on vinyl.

  8. Got a shipping email tonight haha. Received the product a day ago.

    Same here. Funny.

So I stopped by a couple of malls on the way down to my parents' house today and managed to snag an extra copy. I'd like to see it go to someone who placed an early order and had it cancelled. So if your order number was higher than mine (W8350666) don't bother PM-ing unless you want to try and cut a really sweet deal. I can go trade or cash on this, I just want it to go to someone who actually wants it and not some asshole flipper.

  9. It seems the lowest numbers were the ones affected. Anyone under 700 get shipping confirmation?

666 here, and mine should be delivered today.

I'm wondering, how many people just ordered one copy of Vheissu and got their order cancelled? I threw Joyce Manor's album in with my order because of the flat rate shipping. I'm wondering if ordering more than one thing helps the chances of an order getting "picked."
