  1. Big clash for the after shows with Thrice / Alexisonfire. The girlfriend wanted Alexis so i guess that is that. Bummed I'll miss the thrice one.

Few clashes on the Saturday as well I'm not too pleased about. But I guess that's part of the "fun".

Someone tell me good things to do in Chicago for the days we have around it please. I've done research but it's always best to get ideas from people who actually know the city!

EDIT : Good bars and stuff in the River north area would be nice to know.

  2. As a Middlesbrough fan I would say support us because;

We are the best team in the north east (sorry McCandless haha)

Have arguable the best chairman in the whole country

Are making a real fight for it to get back to where we belong

The biggest underdogs and provided the biggest comeback since Lazarus in the Uefa cup quarter and semi final in 2006.

Expected though to be disappointed lots, have the worst emotional journey and to put up with other boro fans who can be moronic in what they say from time to time.

As an added extra you'll also have the moral high ground over any other fan because, you know, its boro and not the scum from manchester or liverpool.

  3. Right, before I get slated, I have looked back through this thread and didn't really find much...

It'll be me & my girlfriends first time in Chicago and was wanting to be pointed in the right direction of cool things to do / places to shop / good places to get food / bars etc.

Already read up a bit and probably going to check out "bric-a-brack" records. Any others that are noteworthy?

We're staying on North Jefferson street next to Fulton park, looks like it's easily within walking distance from the green / pink line. Does anyone know anything about the area?

    Anything would be muchly appriciated!!

  4. Allegedly ManCity is willing to pay 80 million Euro for De Bruyne. That's just crazy.

Read that this morning. Some sort of transfer limit has to come in sometime soon, surely?!

Chelsea looking at £25-30m for stones as well. It's becoming far too out of hand.

Apparently Blackburn want £14m for Rhodes now LOL. I'll take him, but not for that ridiculously inflated price

  5. He'll absolutley kill it in that league for you. I've heard Bamford may be coming back too despite it not looking likley at the start of the window.

Let's hope. Few bookies have slashed odds on him coming back to 6/4. tbh i'm not reading too much into it. Him & Downing linking up will be exciting though. Woodgate (who in my biased eyes could have been one of Englands best if it wasn't for injury) is back for another year. need a strong leading figure like him on/off the pitch. Doubt he'll play too much.

Can we just take a second and laugh at Kaboul going to the mackems & 32.5m for Benteke. Rodgers is clueless in transfer windows hahaha. The worlds gone mad.

  6. Sweet I'll join.

And yeah we signed PSV captain Wijnaldum.  He looks class to be fair but i will openly admit I've only ever seen him play for Holland once. Quite impressed with our level of targets we seem to be aiming for, hope they come off.

    How about yourselves?

It's a good crack, I'm in a few leagues on it, just a matter of remembering to do it!

Sounds like a good signing, Was going to say, everything I've read sounds like McClaren is setting his sights high. Austin would be a brilliant signing for you. Admittingly, I'd rather he came 45 miles down the road haha

Yeah we got Baptiste from Bolton who looks like a good signing, then he breaks his leg 22 minutes into our friendly against york on Saturday. Typical boro... let's hope he's not out for too long.

Downing looks set to come home as well this week & Stuani from Espanyol should be done soon. Exciting stuff! (As long a stuey can hack the physicality of the league)

  7. Sterling is never worth £49m and Liverpool (and QPR) are the only winners in all this.

However I honestly don't think by moving to City he's ruined his career. They are going to play him after paying that much for him so he'll definitely get games, its just up to him to prove he can do it now.

You're probably right. Schweinsteiger to the scum is an excellent buy. Looking forward to watching him play.

You guys done any buisness yet? I've seen a few things but tbh I haven't really been keeping close.

For anyone thats bothered as well.... the fantasy league is back up on www.fantasy.premierleague.com

If you were in last year, log in & make a team, you'll be asked / automatically put back into in.

If you're new, do the same and join the league with this code : 122020-35145

I hope I don't fail like last year. +10 points for good team names!

  8. Just tried to buy VIP tickets, said there was a problem with my card information.

Spoke to my bank, they said it was because the verified by visa / mastercard pop up didn't get verified (this pop up never appeared)

yes i've got my pop up blocker turned off.

Has anyone else had this / know of the problem? I've emailed ticketfly as well. urgh such a fuck on!

  9. I wouldn't judge him by his stats. If it wasn't for him (and Volland) Hoffenheim wouldn't have placed as good as they did the last 2 years. But I agree with you, that it's ridiculous, how much some clubs are willing to spend for one single player.

I'm the same, never heard of him if i'm honest. then again, i don't watch bundesliga...

IMO wage caps or something need to happen soon, it's killing the game for me. No idea how they would implement it but something better than FFP needs to happen as rich clubs just pay the fines.

It makes the gap between clubs with sheikh etc and smaller clubs (like boro) far too vast. It's scary.

Stirling for £40m+ is ridiculous. He's worth £15m tops.

  10. Yeah I'm not sold on Dost at all. He had one good period where he scored all his goals, other than that he's not exactly been impressive.

We need defence though, we have had the same centre backs since we got relegated 5 years a go and every season we're in the top 3 of the most goals conceded. I just don't understand why we haven't sorted this out earlier.

Can't see Downing coming back just yet, I do think he will next season though if it doesn't work out with Bilic.

I didn't even realise Vossen was only on loan, wouldn't mind him here! If he and Bamford don't return, you really need to replace the goals next season for sure.

Yeah, Rhodes has been talked about since January but I don't think he's worth the price tag (£10-11m) they're putting on him at all.

  11. I made one last year and forgot all about it so I'm guessing I came bottom. I'm down for one.

And nah still nothing, I think he'll end up at Southampton rather than us. We can't even sign an assistant manager, never mind a player at the moment.

You guys done much in the window yet?

Nothing as yet, He's playing his cards close to his chest. People interested in Adomah & Tomlin... no surprise.

Vossen is still an open book but Celtic are interested and apparently bookies have reduced odds of Downing coming back from 6/1 to 11/4. Not reading into that though ha.
