I think i'm going to order this via Amazon since they have free shipping. Only thing that scares me is if they ship records well packed because i ordered movies a few times and it was well packed, but do they packed records well?

I would feel comfortable ordering from them. Even if for some reason your record wasnt packaged great and came damaged they would definitely get it taken care of for you.

On the other hand, I want to order mine from Best Buy since I have a gift card. Anyone know how well they ship?

Did anyone pick up the CD version of this today, and is it worth purchasing? (packaging, booklet, etc not the music)

I'm debating it, since the LP doesn't come with a digital download. Amazon does have it listed as Daisy (180 Gram LP/Gatefold/MP3 Included) but I think that relates to "Get $1 worth of MP3 downloads from Amazon MP3 after you order your item."

I more I think about this, the less of an issue I think it is. It's the same thing as going to FYE or Virgin and paying $20 for a CD there, when you could get it from the label or say Best Buy for $12. If people are willing to pay for it, might as well capitalize.

Apple is doing this purely as a way to make money. That's why they're a company, they're in it to make money and do what is in their company's best interest. If they're not losing any money on this (and I doubt the cost of advertising/developing etc won't be covered by a few sales of this product), then it's just a new business venture for Apple.

Now, I definitely don't think it's going to take away from vinyl sales, as is pretty much the consensus here, so I don't really care. I don't advocate people spend $17 on this, however.
