  1. I don't see anything wrong with pre-orders, but when you haven't even finished the art yet. It's a little nuts to start taking pre-orders. At least wait till test pressings are approved.

    Cash grab label.

I mean, we do pre-orders occasionally as well, but they are a few weeks, not months on end.

And I don't know why people go through the trouble of smiting people for making a comment on obvious fuckups by a label. I don't really think anyone here cares about their stupid ass Karma points.

They should just refund everybody, and allow them first dibs when the release comes out. Hell, if you took all probably 15000 bucks they have probably gotten on pre-orders and tossed it in a bank for 6 months, that's a decent amount of interest. They are basically getting interest free loans, or better yet, people are paying them for the privalege of giving them a loan.

It's tempting to buy into this shit, and start doing pre-orders a year in advance. Seems like people would rather pre-order than actually just buy something, like pre-orders sell better than release date records.

    I'm still furiously jacking off.

  2. Why would anyone knowingly pre-order something that hasn't even gone into production?

That's the stupidest thing for a customer, or a label to do. Basically what they are doing, is taking overpriced donations, until they have enough money to fund some projects, and then placing the order. Plants are all backed up nowdays, any label knows to consider around a 4 month lead time between lacquer cut and delivery. This is essentially what Virgil was doing. Give a bunch of money now, and one day, sometime in the future, we'll give you your record.

Is this stuff actually looked kindly upon on here? I have a few records I don't have the money to press yet, should I put up a pre-order first, and wait till I have the money and then press it on other peoples dime and make instant profit.

I've never been critical of this label, but damn. They seem like smart guys, but I guess they are either broke as hell, or want to do only risk free projects on guaranteed profitable releases. Seems much less of a music fan than a simple money making venture.

I guess I'll do pre-orders for the new Pinkerton Thugs album now, they hit the studio in 45 days, shouldn't be later than June/July when the album is out.

Pay now, get it 6 months later.

And oh yeah. Let's inflate the price. Pre-orders are 30 bucks unless we feel like charging double.

The sad shit is that people will continue supporting, and they know this. There is absolutely no motivation to not put up year long pre-orders. A few people get pissed, and then finally get the record and start kissing their ass again, and ejaculating in their pants for the next overpriced year long pre-order.

  3. Today for one hour 12pm-1pm( Eastern time) every single effing thing in the webshop will be 40% off. Use the code "hurry up" to get the discount. Orders placed at that time will arrive in time for Christmas. This is strictly for exactly one hour. Every order get's some cool stuff tossed in as well. Good only for U.S residents...

We've gotten quicker with shipping as well. I know things used to take a few weeks sometimes to arrive. Things have gotten way better.

We are not shipping much overseas anymore though, for some reason international shipping has become a huge bitch. Taking months sometimes for european orders, or getting stuck at customs etc.

Also for April-August releases we have coming up

    Finally..

Ashers: LP in April 27th (I believe)

Defaince Best of (vinyl format on the same day, cd out now)

    July:

The Unseen: (shh, it's a secret)

  4. I was so stoked when I heard of them doing something together! Huge Hope Sandoval fan. Mazzy star is essentially Hope Sandoval, and all her output over the years has been flawless. I can't see new Mazzy Star being anything less than fucking awesome!

Yeah somebody update this if you find out where to get that 7". This is one of very few things I would probably pick up on E bay for some insane price if it ended up selling out.

Suprised there is much of a following on here. I guess some people on here do like great music :)

  5. Yeah dude, I'm flying out there for that show. the Thugs will be touring nationally all spring/summer as well, with another great band, who I don't think I can say yet..

dude you can tell me I won't say anything haha

Code is "the monkey only climbs the bamboo tree" call and say that, do three laps around the nearest fire hydrant, put 5 bucks in an envelope and mail it to yourself under an alias, and then call back and the circle will be complete and the information will be processed.

  6. I have never seen Ross come across as the Messiah of record pressing or the Santa Clause of re-issues. He's just pressing records and doing something that he loves.

It's really no different than AlexH, jailhouse, and magicbullet sitting around at their parent's house masturbating to internet porn... they're doing something that they love.

But, I mean, if they get pleasure out of spending an hour writing a novel about how ETR sucks and is destructive to the "indy" music scene, or whatever their gripes are about, that's cool. They probably work at Long John Silvers or deliver pizzas... Well, I know they don't have a college degree in English.

Learn the difference between "your" and "you're" when chewing out young businessmen like Ross. You'll appear to be educated, and someone might take your opinions seriously.

    Ups to you Ross.

We don't so much concentrate on the Indianapolis scene as much as the indie scene. Learn the difference between indy and indie if you want to start a grammar war you fuck.

Anyway, that's all the time for today. I think I will jack off and take a nap before I go to the bank and deposit these three distributor checks, and send bands their royalty checks for Sept sales. Have fun at your corporate dayjob! Hope it was worth the degree!

I regret to inform you that Brent/Magic Bullet is probably busy at the moment processing orders and cashing checks, maybe he will post later on after the store he owns closes for the day.

  7. Good until I take it down, may be late tonight, or a couple days.

All orders will be sent out by Nov 2nd at the latest. I'll be shut down for a couple weeks after Nov 5th. I'll be out of town for a while.

So if anyone is interested in anything buy now or you'll have to wait till dec.

Of course everything we have, even stuff I don't even have copies of anymore are all availble at indie record shops worldwide, interpunk etc etc.

    Here is the coupon code

    OIPUNKS

Apply the code at checkout and 30% will be taken off.

  8. The whole fucking point is that they care enough about records and indy labels to see this label for what it is.

What do you mean "for what is it"? The only band to have an issue with any re-issue we have done was rx bandits which i have explained dozens of times. Nfg we got approved, chad didnt want it done through us so we backed off. That simple, if the band makes it clear that they have a problem with it for some reason than end of story.

Regardless of rumors otherwise both 311 and dream theatre are behind these releases and will be heavily promoting them.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/Dream-Theater/7677942180 , was also on their twitter and website(which is down right now for some reason)

311's management told us that they will be making some newsletter and socia network updates this week regarding the vinyl re-issue among other things.

Cause all your doing is rehashing major label stuff. This was once a place for independent music. I'm sure if Sony or Atlantic or something started posting on this board not too many people would be happy. And that's essentially what you are. It's nothing at all productive, new, different, and especially not independent. You pay major labels to let you put your name one of their releases. Your not a label, and your site that insist that your here to to help "nobodies" become household names is ridiculous. Your whole mission statement is talking solely about helping out "nobodies" (which I may add is an endearing term to call independent bands) and how you do this and that. From reading your mission statement, one would think you were a more dickish Tim Yo.

Your mission is apparantly to press stuff that everyone has already heard, and is risk free.

A lot of people on here may not give a shit, as long as it's a cool color vinyl or good packaging or whatever. But the point remains, that you are brining absolutely nothing at all new to the table. Anyone can licence a record, it doesn't take a rocket scientist. It takes patience, hard work, sacrifice, and years of struggle to run a real label. What you are doing is simply paying someone to give you a shortcut, while bringing absolutely nobody anything new. How can you take pride in this?! You have no say in how it's recorded, promoted, you don't get to see it mixed, your not involved with the creative force behind releases. It takes absolutely no work. I know you'll say it takes months of haggling with majors over contracts and such, but that is not work. Sending E mails and waiting for responses. If you really cared about music, and wanted to make some sort of lasting impression, and more importantly maintain your pride. You'd put out stuff to make people aware of something new, or exciting that you helped build. An album that you helped create from scratch, and the work and sweat that goes into it, is a huge source of accomplishment. There is no better feeling than working hard with a band and navigating through the various stages of promotion, distribution and everything else, and finally reaching the end with an album of work that brings something new to people. It's like being a construction worker. Yeah, you could probably pay a fellow construction worker to let you take credit for his work, but wouldn't it feel better if was your work that you labored over, and you get to see the final presentation of something you worked hard yourself on?

I don't think anyone hates you as a person. It's just a slap in the face of bands, labels, fans, consumers etc, when all your doing is paying a major to allow you to take some credit for their work.

I know I make a lot of snide comments about your label, but I don't hate you, or wish the worst for you. It's just embarrassing. I feel embarrased for you. You act like your some big time label when you haven't done anything, except let the only original band you've worked with sit by the wayside while you continue your exploitive major label crap.

  9. haha, awesome! I swear this dude is a fucking dildo. I'd place a pretty good bet that he doesn't even like this band, but will pretty much just licence anything that was attached to a major, to give his label the appearance of being a "major player". There is no way he's making more than maybe 1500 or so per pressing after licencing and pressing, and raping people on prices.

I've done several represses myself, and have never had to pay a dime for licencing. If the bands actually liked you, there is a good chance they could negotiate with their label to avoid licencing fees. But that would entail working closely with the band, which obviously your not too fond of.

    Selling units man!

I remember when I asked you to get your own bands instead of stealing other bands stuff. your response was "I tried that once, and we lost money"

If at first you don't succeed, pay someone to let you ride on their coat tails.

    sounds like somebody is jealous.

Damnit! I'm busted. I wish I could could pay a major a couple thousand to let me rehash one of their records.

Is this record going to have a big, blown up UPC on the cover also?

This label is like a Kunaki for vinyl

He also kinda screams "Boy Sets Fire guitarist" in that pic.

The fact that Joey was trying to put this out (presumably with the band) makes me want bad things to happen to this "big fan big fan" chump. In fact, if he does somehow end up going through with the NFG release, I don't see how bad things don't end up happening to him.

What, is the vinyl mafia going to put a hit out on him? Give me a break.

I don't think there is a such thing as the vinyl mafia. But there are labels and bands, and distributors and pr guys and on and on. The music scene isn't quite as sanitized and safe in the real world as it is on the internet. 6131 is a great label, and a real label, not some fly by night licencing house. If a particular label keeps stepping on everyones toes, It's inevetable that something will eventually happen. It is certainly not unheard of to be shut down against your will.

This dude is treading dangerously into a scene he knows absolutely nothing about, except being a "big fan for 10+years".

They should really think about giving up the whole thing of pressing releases that bands don't want them to press.

  12. Official press release regarding new recordings, and touring this summer with the awesome Continental (RickBarton of Dropkick Murphys) and The Scarred.

One of my all time favorite bands.[image]
