  1. I HAVE TWIN PEAK NEWS. and other news.

Alright so MV did an interview with Justin and detailed some upcoming Mondo releases:

    • They're considering doing an Inception pressing. Said he would "start shooting emails around." And have to talk with Rob and others about artwork. Nothing planned atm. MV brought up The Dark Knight and Justin seemed interested.
    • Twin Peaks has no set date right now and is still on track for first half 2015.
    • The Last of Us was already supposed to be out but flooding damaged all of the test pressings so its been pushed back. It will be a 4XLP including OSTs for both the game and the sound track for the DLC. Artwork and test presses approved. Slated for Comic Con-ish time, so July.

`Edited with more info from the podcast.

Thanks for posting. Hope you enjoy. He also spoke of a "western soundtrack" coming out and something with a feather in it.

  2. I do know how that works and I think I may have worded it a bit wrong. I apologize. Hot Topic is not the label, it was just a podcast about band approval and vinyl pressings. Thought it was relevant, but explained it in an incorrect fashion.

    Will probably just delete it.

I was checking Modern Vinyl info on their podcast and they had a correction about these FOB pressings for a recent podcast they released. It seems like someone needs to correct their correction. This is what they said as a correction to something they said on their podcast:

    From MV:

As an example, I talk about Fall Out Boy’s vinyl rights being given away by a major label. I forgot that it’s already happened as those vinyl rights went to Hot Topic (most likely without their knowledge). And actually, we didn’t mention that Hot Topic is another organization which happens to press things without band approval at times.

How many people just don't understand how Hot Topic works and that it isn't a label and doesn't actually press things they just buy them and carry them in their store? You'd think a vinyl site could at least get the facts straight.

  3. This is what happened on our end. We posted the article, with the listing. I got an email from Spartan asking if we could pull it down because they weren't releasing it.

I said I'd reach out to Interpunk to see what the confusion was label-wise. They said they knew the issue already and were going to have it taken down.

Sorry for any confusion! Just seems like there was some kind of misunderstanding?

  4. On 2/11 those are all coming out except NOFX and Bouncing Souls. Those got bumped, probably coming in March.

Dont even pay attention to the 2/18 releases yet, those for sure are not coming on 2/18. They are still coming out, just not sure when.

Sorry for the confusion. It's been tough to keep track of the changing dates. I made sure to edit the calendar to reflect these changes (the 2/18 ones won't show up until a set date is announced).

  5. We posted this up earlier today

Because The Internet, the upcoming full length album from Childish Gambino, will be released as a limited vinyl run, exclusive to indie record stores. The pressing will be on 180-gram double red vinyl (limited to 800), while serving as one of the official “bootleg” pressings that have been coming out, which will have a stamped, numbered cover. A standard release may be coming in 2014, but currently, the red vinyl is the only scheduled for 2013.

The pressing will be available on December 10th. It was available for a short time over at Amoeba Records, but has since sold out. We’ll keep you updated on what stores stock it.

  6. I guess it comes down to quality vs. quantity. But yeah...we all started out collections somewhere and at some point they were small. Not all us can have a gargantuan collection of 1500+ records. That takes years and commtiment and love for the music and bands. It's the real stories attached to any record, that make the collector interesting.

Any schmoe can up and buy an uber-rare pressing of a record off eBay...to me, there's minimal emotional & personal weight to that. It's the record that you got from the one label guy who went out of his way to hook you up with and the eventual friendship off that...or that one record the band gifted you and you traveled with it for hundreds of miles to different towns when your band was on tour. Those are weighty stories and give more meaning to that piece of music and record.

And those are the stories we're looking for. If anybody has any, please send them in. I would love to talk with you!
